Mike smiled. It had been a long, long time before he had been behind a
phaser rifle and while this one felt real, it was only a fake one,
firing an orange beam of harmless radiation. He had only volunteered
to join the ODA when he heard how they were strugelling to defend main
engineering, and since in a real combat situation he would be there,
he had volunteered. Stood on the transporter pad, he thought back to
the times of being a security officer on the starbase Midway, when he
had fought off an attack on the promenade.
He dematieralised and appeared on the top level of main engineering to
see a Simspon officer, most likely an engineer who was interefering
with Mike's console, presumably trying to disable a system. "Hm Hm"
Mike coughed cheekily, "I do believe that is MY console" he said as he
shot the turning officer with the radiation. The officer cursed as he
was transported away by the computer, a fake-casualty of the games.
Mike smiled, he loved shooting people.
Mike walked over to the console and locked it out, along with all
other engineering systems, none of the Simpsons were going to damage
his engineering bay, turning to look down at the bottom level, he saw
the doors being pulled apart with magnetic handles, clearly the small
group of marines had failed. He lined up the phaser rifle in the very
center of the door at head height and slighly zoomed in. When the door
opened a couple of inches, he took down the first target. "Hehe" he
said to himself, giggling at the officer he had just shot.
One of the conditions of the war games was that a pretend mine
fastened to the warpcore would count as a victory and Mike was only
too aware of how likely this was. As the doors opened some more, he
shot down another officer, taking a scan he found that there was
another.
Minutes passed, Mike watching the door, the officer waiting for his
chance, as all of a sudden the man jumped through, his big blue
plastic mine in his hand. Mike took a shot, and another but missed. He
jumped up the couple of stairs onto the platform which surrounded the
warpcore. He saw the officer put one leg over the barrier below him,
and the officer began to climb over. Mike had left his phaser. He had
seconds. He cursed and the officer heard him.
"Noone beats the Chimera" shouted Mike, throwing him over the red bar
down towards the officer. Mike knocked the poor man over, and siezing
his phaser, shot him in the chest. Mike tapped his commbadge,
"Engineering secured" he said as he passed out on the floor.
