*** Temporary Sickbay * USS Chimera *** Steve reached up, pressed the button to deactivate the biobed and glanced at Rangi. The insistant alarms stopped and the final readout fell to zero.She let out a long breath, almost as though indicating defeat. "I'll do a full post mortem once we have sickbay back" she said quietly."In the meantime...the mortuary." Steve nodded."I'll see to it now" He saw her attention move to something behind him. She raised her head, clearly puzzled by what she saw. "Where's Captain Walsh?" she asked, transferring her gaze back to him. Steve glanced quickly to the empty bed behind him. "He discharged himself" he answered remeeting her eyes. "He what?" she questioned, her tone implying that she knew she wasnt going to like the explanation. "He ......discharged himself." "When!" "Just before you came back." "And you let him?" This time there was surprise in her voice. "Well .....yes...but I tried to stop him." Steve added hastily. "What happened?" she asked, her gaze flicking from the AMO to the empty bed and back again. " I pointed out that you hadnt ok'd it...but he didnt listen.He said he was needed back on duty and hadnt time to waste in here. I tried to prevent him leaving." Rangi looked at him steadily. "And?" she asked after a moment or two. "He said you could have him courtmarshalled if you liked...and that he'd break my hand if I touched him again" Steve stated. Rangis eyes widened. "And you believed him?" she asked incredulously. Steve frowned and shifted uneasily. "To be quite frank....yes!" he said thinking that she didnt understand the circumstances. Rangi gave a sigh of impatience,displeasure plain to see on her face. She side stepped Steve and hurried past him to the computer terminal, where she tapped in some codes with slightly more force than usual. He followed her quickly and watched Jack Walshs recent medical history appear on the screen. "He's an idiot!!" Rangi said between her teeth,reading the last results for the errant patient."..what makes him think....." Turning away from the terminal, she touched her commbadge. +Taps+ Summers to Captain Walsh. Steve watched Rangis face as she awaited the reply. +Taps+ Summers to Captain Walsh. she repeated and looked down at the floor. Steve glanced around the temporary sickbay. +Taps+ Commander Summers to Captain Walsh. she said with a slight stress on her rank. "Excuse me" Steve hastily stepped back at rangis word and she reached forward to tap on the terminal. "Computer...locate Captain Jack Walsh." The responce was immediate and precise. [Marine Captain Walsh is on Deck Nine, Section 12. Security office.] Steve looked sideways at the CMO. "Computer?..Is there a problem with his commbadge?" [Marine Captain Walsh's commbadge is functioning within normal operating perameters.] Steve looked away, silently agreeing with Rangis earlier comment. {He IS an idiot!} He glanced back at her and saw that she was considering something, the finger tips of one hand tapping on those of the other.
