=/\= Bridge =/\= Acheson felt a cold chill in the air as the red alert klaxons sounded again. A Romulan warbird was directly in front of the Chimera and had its weapons to bare. The Chimera had been partially repaired, but still only had 40% shields and some of its original weapons restored. He targeted the warbird in responce to being targeted and called out the information that came off his panel, from the SF Intelligence registry: "Sir, I identified the ship as the RSR Chocholusik, Romulan Galae ship. They are severaly damaged on all sections, clearly battle results." Acheson looked down, to continue reporting. He checked his results and gave an astonished report: "The Romulan warbird we encountered had an entire section on deck 3. In 8 hours you cant build a whole section, but this Warbird has that section without damage." He looked down again, as a final scanning sweep had been completed, but had to double check it. It wasn't possible. Something must be wrong. Federation starships don't fire without provocation. Something must have happened. Yet, despite his doubts, he was obligated to report the truth: "The problem is that the weapon residual signatures on the Warbird's damaged sections are without doubt of federation origin!" Shane turned to Athena and asked quietly: "How can this be?" The bridge was silent at that moment and Acheson could even hear Shane's rhetorical question, despite the fact that he's on the other side of the bridge. He decided to leave it rhetorical, but found himself wondering that very thing. The Romulan ship was damaged and ready to fight, but it was not firing. Acheson had it targeted and had a volley of torpedos and every available phaser array trained on this ship. He could fire at an instant and add to the latent Federation weapons signatures in the area. He waited for the Romulan ship to make a move and secretly hoped that they would. The constant state of rediness and battle had taken its toll and he found himself wanting battle and lusting for that surge of adrenaline that would accompany a good fight. As he walked by, a new officer walked onto the bridge and approached him. "Who are you?" he asked, quite annoyed of this during a Red alert. "Mathew Kirkland, sir. I was told that there was a command sequencing problem with one of the torpedo tubes." "Yes, Lieutenant." He looked up at the warbird not firing. "Well, the torpedo is off by about 50 angstroms by its target detonation." Kirkland, a younger officer with a traditional uniform, nodded. "I'll take care of it immediately." "Thank you" he replied as he looked up, his thoughts now concerned again with that warbird on the viewscreen. =/\= END LOG =/\= MCapt Acheson CTAC USS Chimera <<The use of angstrom here is a little funny .... an angstrom is a very small distance.>> -- ___________________________________________________________ Sign-up for Ads Free at Mail.com http://promo.mail.com/adsfreejump.htm
