====== Shane's quarters, USS Chimera ===== Shane slowly prepared himself for the upcomming diplomatic happening. He just came out of the sonic shower and naked like god created him he walked to his bed room to get the dress uniform. He had to grin a bit when he thought back 10 Minutes when he was leaving the bridge. His AXO Rangi was there and he just said that he was going to an away team and waited for Rangi's objections. There were none. Rangi didnt day anything just noded. Shane was a bit suprised first, but then when he thought about it a bit more, he realised that Rangi probably didnt objected his decission because they were in public. Once, long ago, she did objected his decission in the sickbay in front of the sickbay staff ... and none of the two of them wanted to repeat the argument they two've had. The last thing Shane had to decide soon was the fourth person that will accompany Athena, Martin and Shane on the diplomatic happening. Shane had several candidates in head and the decission was no easy. Preferably it should be a senior officer ... but Rangi left to Command the ship, Oriana had the task to scan the strange signal Foster encountered, Gaalen was still reported to be out off duty. The only one left was MCpt. Walsh. Shane sighed. It was no secret that he and Walsh werent best friends and that Shane disliked a bit the way Walsh commanded his department. But it was the General who choosed the Captain as ODA Commander and till the ODA was an effective and operational unit, Shane had no reason to fix what wasnt broken. And well, Walsh was a marine, Shane was an naval officer and both branches of star fleet had different ways of the daily routine. Other thing was that a security man could be of good help if something should go wrong with the Romulans or the Kzenti. Sure, there were no weapons allowed in the meeting, but Walsh was surely good trined in bare hand combat as well ... and surely better then Shane or Martin ... or Athena. Shane walked over to the wall console and taped few buttons to contact the ODA Commander: "Guzman to Captain Walsh. I want you in my team going down to the planet for an diplomatic meeting. Please meet the rest of the team in one hour 10 Minutes. Dress uniform required and please captain, no weapons. It would be benefical if you could look up some basic informations about the Kzenti and Captain ... I hope you have a good excuse for leaving the sickbay without beeing released by a doctor." After a small pause came the strong voice of the Ship's ODA Commander: "Understood sir. One hour 10 Minutes". ===== 5 Minutes later ===== Slowly dressing up, Shane was interruped as the wall computer announced an incomming message from SSF Command. Shane wasnt expecting any message, so with some interest he went over to the console and looked at the message with a header: > SSF Command, Omega System << Shane raised his eyebrows and started to read the message. After a minute a smile formed on his lips. Such messages were more then wellcomed ... it was a promotion order. SSF Command decided that a certain member of the Chimera crew was due for a promotion. It was a promotion from Ensign to Lieutenant Junior Grade ... and the happy 'kid' was Oriana. Shane forwarded that message to Rangi and taped teh console: "Guzman to Summers" +TAPS+ Summers here, Commander Obviously Rangi was on the bridge ... she was using Shane's rank. "Commander I've forwarded a promotion order to you. Its our CSCiO. Please do the promotion ceremony as soon as possible. Please extend my thanks to the Lieutenant" +TAPS+ I will gladly do that sir. Dont you wish to do it by yourself? "No" Shane replied, "I dont know how long the meeting will take and you know about orders ... they have to be carried out." +TAPS+ Of course they have to.
