=/\= Research Station =/\= Acheson held his back straight against the edge of the wall, in front of a door. As Guzman gave the signal, he ordered the ODA team in. After confirming that the room contained no one, he carefully entered, with his phaser rifle at the ready. This room revealed a door to yet another room, and Acheson prepared to repeat the process. As they entered the second one, Acheson threw up his arm and made a fist, to order the team to stop. Directly ahead, a group of aliens were hovering over a partially disassembled photon torpedo, speaking in a series of audible clicks and hisses. Acheson was reminded of the African N|u language that he'd been lectured about at the linguistics 101 at Starfleet Academy. Before he could act, a member of the team took it upon herself to dart into the room and get the alien's attention. Acheson prepared to try to fire on the aliens, knowing that his weapons may not even be effective and that the entire gesture could well be futile. The beings, though, fell for the trap. They pursued her and left the room. The next step was obvious. Acheson rushed in with the ODA team and secured the room. Commander Guzman looked to him. "Secure both doors, Lieutenant" Acheson nodded. He went to the 2 doors and accessed their terminal interface, using a tricorder. He downloaded a program into each. Mind you, Acheson was no computer expert. The tricorder was an SSF design, fitted to be able to gain access to many computer system. The encryption algorthium he downloaded closed the doors and left them closed. He ordered the ODA members to point weapons at the doors, just in case. "Sir, the doors are secured." Guzman nodded: "Lieutenant, please hurry and take care of the torpedos" Lieutenant Blackburn quickly got to work, deactivating the torpedo. Acheson held the door, but peered behind him to watch the work. Torpedos were such mystical weapons, having originated from charges of gunpower used to sink old Earth naval ships. The modern torpedos could be fired and strike a target and the requisite angle, distance, and intensity. Blackburn worked quickly and professionally. "Sir, the torpedos are deactivated." =/\= END LOG =/\= 2Lt Acheson ODA CO USS Chimera -- ___________________________________________________________ Sign-up for Ads Free at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup
