=/\= Kzenti - Small Locked Room =/\=
Athena's head was beginning to ache a bit and she felt like every move she
made in the small white room was being watched. She pulled the decorative metal
sticks from her hair. Her hair fell in loose curls around her face and down
her back. She looked at the hair decoration and then at the key pad by the
door. She stood and walked over to the pad as she placed one of the decorative
sticks in her pocket.
Athena stared at the key pad and took the remaining stick and used it to pry
the small box open. She studied the wire inside for a while and then using
the metal stick in her hand began to move them around. She ignored the little
shocks that traveled through the stick as she worked and finally the door
hissed open. As no one walked immediately in She began to walk out but hesitated.
In Athena's moment of hesitation she sensed a presence and a motion and began
to move backward a half step. In the next moment Athena felt contact and
fell further back into the room. The whole side of her face hurt and she dreaded
to think what would have happened if she hadn't taken that half a step
backward. The guard immediately followed his punch into the room and stood in front
of the path of the open door.
Athena wasn't sure because her vision was beginning to blur badly but she
thought another person entered the room and fixed the key pad that she had taken
apart. Her vision began to darken as she barely stood against the back wall
of the room and slowly she slid down it to the floor. She held her head with
her hands and fought against the nausea that she felt. As other sounds began
to drift into the room and through the pounding in her head, she rose slowly.
"Let me help you," she heard but couldn't see. She moved away from the voice.
"I'm fine, " Athena lied and hoped that she would be left alone again. She
let out a shuddering breath and opened her eyes. Everything was fuzzy and
everything to the left seemed very dark. She reach up to touch her eye and winced
at the slight touch on her left cheek. With the slightly fuzzy sight she
moved herself away from the walls and away from anyone standing in the room.
"Let me help you," a Kzenti woman offered.
"No," Athena said as she caught sight of the pitcher sitting on the table.
She concentrated on the pitcher and it began to shake and then finally it flew
across the room and broke against the wall. The shattering glass took the
attention away from Athena. A couple more Kzenti Women entered the room and soon
all the mess was picked up and a meal had been placed on the table.
Athena was noticing that the woman who seemed to be giving the orders had
longer hair than the women who were setting out the food and cleaning the broken
glass. Soon after that realization the women left and Athena heard the hiss
and the magnetic click of the door. Athena walked over to the table and looked
at the food and drink sitting there. She walked away from the table and
lifted her fingers to her hurt cheek again. Her cool fingers felt good on the
swollen flesh. Her inquisitive fingers felt dried blood on her face. {If I
hadn't had stepped back his punch would have killed me.} She laid down on the bed
to rest her pounding head.
