He had quite the chip on his shoulder. "You wanted to see me sir?" he approached the XO confidently. Shane noded to the fresh backed ADCEO and put a PADD aside he was just reviewing. "Yes, Lieutenant, there are few things i wanted to discuss with you. Please take a seat" he motioned Kirkland to sit on the chair oposing his, on the other end of the table. "Well, the first thing i wanted to know is what informations we have got about the Kzenti and their technology" Shane said and leaned a bit in his chair backwards expecting an technical freek to be in his realm. It could take quite a while, but Shane wanted to be on top with this issue. Kirkland took a deep breath and thought for a moment, to be sure he put the words in the right order. "Sir, the device seems to operate with a variant on alpha field transduction with some sort of bioneural interface. It provides the Kzenti with additional energy, beyond that provided by biological metabolism. It's a most unique design in how it was able to achieve a bioneural interface despite the signal degredation inherent to these sort of transmissions." Shane noded: "I see." Shrugging slightly he continued: "I even wont pretend that I have understood everything you have said Lieutenant, but finally you are the engineer here. What is of important matter is the question if there is any possible weakness about the Kzenti we might have some use of." "Lieutenant Foster and I were working on it. I believe that we can use the principle of wave estruction to neutralize the device over short areas. While we can't cancel the affect from far, I think that a properly tuned tachyon emitter might be able to inhibit the energy transfer." He shrugged. "It might take us a while to design something like that." Shane noded and leaned a bit forward in his seat: "Do you have an better time estimation for me on the stock Lieutenant?" he asked, "For the time beeing we seem to be quite at a loss against the Kzenti and I dont like to be that helpless for too long" Kirkland shrugged and seemed to think for a few minutes. This was a big job, so the Engineer inflation factor definitely had to be added. "About 72 hours, sir" "Good enough for me" Shane replied with a satisfied voice. He knew Kirkland could not give him exact time evaluation, but what Shane wanted was Engineering on high speed ... and Kirkland looked to be the right person for that. Looking at Kirkland he asked again: "Another thema Lieutenant. Our counselor is missing, I belive the Romulans have her kidnapped and hold her on their ship, but i have no proove about that. I need you to use whatever tricks you have on stock to locate the counselor's current position" "Is the Romulan ship cloaked? Did she have a combadge on?" He seemed to fire away questions, like a small child. Shane smiled at the rapid fire of questions. Kirkland remainded him much on a young ATAC back on SB 742, eager to proove himself, always asking around. "No Lieutenant, the Warbird is not cloacked. Since we arrived at the orbit of the Kzenti homeworld, the Warbird retains his position some 2000 km ahead of us in synchromous orbit. As far as the Councelor's combadge is concerning, we have found no trace of it, and presume it was deactivated or destroyed." Shrugginf his shoulders slightly: "OPS already made a detailed scan of the warbird and found no traces of an non-Romulan woman on board. I do still belive that the Romulans are responsible for the counselor's dissapearance, but I might be wrong. Thats what I need you for Lieutenant. Please find me teh counselor on the Warbird or prrove me wrong and find her anywhere else. Do whatever you need to do, just find her for me. Understood?" He nodded quickly. "Yes, sir" Shane noded.
