-=/\=- Sickbay -=/\=- Mai arrived later then usual to Sickbay due to her bad knee. Cmdr. Rangi Summers was getting ready to brief the medical staff and about a few marines about the next assignment. The medical staff was to do surgery on the marines to make them look like Romulans so some from the Chimera crew could get aboard the Romulan's and rescue Lt. Athena Wellington. MaiKai became very queasy and uncomfortable hearing the word 'surgery' come out of Scott Fisher's mouth as she asked him what did she miss on the way down to Sickbay. "OK ... Let's be sure that everyone understands the situation," Rangi began, glancing from the five marines to the medical staff. "Lt. Wellington is missing. We think there is a strong possibility that she's being held captive on the Romulan ship. There's no signal from her commbadge and as we all know, when the transport device was activated we had a Romulan visitor. So ..." Rangi glanced back at the marines "We propose to send a small team led by Commander Guzman, to search for Lt. Wellington on the ship. These gentlemen ..." she added while looking back to her team, "... Will be transformed into Romulan soldiers." MaiKai gulped as she shifted her weight. Though she went through medical school and was very smart and keen when it came to the knowledge and act of doing surgery. For some odd reason she just didn't like the fact about looking at sharp objects and gory blood. Mai knew if it was and emergency or life threatening she would do it at all costs no second thoughts. Knowing this was an order she convinced herself it would all turn out in the best assurance for the USS Chimera. We will make three pairs," Rangi continued, "and have two patients for each pair." Rangi turned her attention back to the marines she explained: "The procedure is relatively simple and not permanent ... it will be reversed on your return." Now is where MaiKai blanked out for some odd reason and thought of a memory from her childhood while Rangi was giving out the objective for the 'rescue of Athena' mission. (Some might call this daydreaming.) MaiKai remembered being with her older cousin out on their boards; they were straddling on their boars as if to sit and just talk, which they didn't get to do much. Miko, her slightly older cousin, interrupted their discussion of their family. He was explaining the good things the surfer was doing that was surfing near them. Mai watched for a while in admiration when she turned to say something. The only thing MaiKai could remember was being pulled up out of the water and being at her house lying helplessly on the family room couch. What happened was the surfer near by had wiped out and his board flipped up and hit Mai rather hard in the head. She fell to the side of her own board and started to drift farther down in the ocean blue. Miko, a little shaky, dove from his own board in search and rescue for MaiKai. He caught sight of her and grabbed Mai's arm as he lifted her from the side so they could head up the surface. Miko had carried her and laid her down on the beach. He knelt beside Mai and clasped both his hands over her chest and started to thrust down on her chest to get the water out of her lungs. MaiKai started to cough all the water home, but instead of Miko rushing Mai home, he took her home to get contact of his aunt, uncle, and his own parents first. Upon hearing her name, Mai came back around to listening to the Commander speak. "Private Oakley and Fleischer ... you will be cared for by Dr. Quiocho and Dr. Desoto ... Corporal Malagoli ... Private Calder ... you will be with Dr. Carpenter and Dr. Fisher. Corporal Tearle ... you will join me and nurse Fleming. Commander Guzman will be my other patient. Now ... if you would care to wait outside please." Mai watched the marines follow out as she watched as other people on her staff asked Rangi about the skin adaptation to the Romulans for the surgery. Interesting what they would use to give the marines the green tinge and some drug to make the nausea go away. At the end MaiKai headed to the Mess Hall for a little bite to eat before coming back to Sickbay for preparations and the act of the cosmetic surgery. -=/\=- End Log -=/\=- LtJg.
