=/\= Engineering =/\= Kirkland stood with Lieutenant Foster looking over the device. "I told Guzman that we were going to use wave destruction as a means of cancelling it out. Have you been able to attenuate the tachyon emitter?" Foster shook his head and looked back at Kirkland. "There is too much signal variance to do that." He nodded and looked back down at the schematic for the device. "Could we try projecting the signal at this point in the device ... rather than attacking the wave of the signal once it's been emitted." Foster nodded but shook his head again. "I thought of that too, but there is no way to get the right frequency of signal to that point. The metallic casing undergoes excitation unpredictably and results in a hypochromic shift in the energy of the wave." Kirkland tapped into the computer console, to prepare simulations. "So what is the main problem with the tachyon emitter plan?" Foster pointed at the screen. "Right there. The signal that the Kzenti device produces various rapidly with respect to time." Kirkland looked at the wave. "You tried a Fourier series?" "Affirmative" Foster nodded, tapping a few commands. The fourier series appeared below it, and the results were superimposed. "You know ..." Kirkland said: "The results are almost there. I bet this would solve our problem. The Kzenti would be about equal to human reflexes and strength." Just as Foster was about to walk away, a flash appeared in his eyes. "Well, I think I have an idea." He stepped forward and furiously tapped at the consoles. "Let's create an annharmonicity factor in the wave equation." He entered the factor in and Kirkland watched as the superimposed waves matched. "Fantastic" Kirkland called out, smiling. "All we need to do is rig the device. I can probably create an armband and give it an operational area of 2 meters. I'll inform the CO."
