===== Shane's quarters, USS Chimera =====
Shane looked at his face in the large mirror in his bathroom and he shook his head in disbelief. It was not him who looked from the mirror back ... it was a stranger ... a romulan! Rangi did her job very well, even if there were some marks that remainded Shane on his own face ... the chirurgical alteration Rangi did on his face personally changed it a lot and even Shane could be fooled with his new face ... he was DEFINITELLY a romulan.
After LtJg. Kirkland confirmed his scan about picking up Athena's biosignal on the Romulan Warbird, Shane wanted to leave for the away team in 10 Minutes. Luckily, his old TAC training prevented him from acting that quickly without giving it a good thought. Something in his mind said to him that there is something wrong. It was not easy to find out what could be wrong ... but finnaly Shane got it. The events were just TOO good ... they happend TOO like expected. Shane wanted a trace about Athena on the Warbird ... and there you go ... Kirkland founf one ... just almost at the exact time when the marines Shane picked up for the away team were finished with their alterations.
A little bit he began to have the feeling that it was some sort of a trap. Eighter by the Romulans ... or some other player ... maybe the Kzenti? Nonethless, he could not just ignore the trace of Athena on the Warbird ... afterall she could REALLY be there, so the away team had to go. Thinking about everything what happend, Shane decided to change the away team a bit and decided to take Kirkland and MaiKai Quicho with on the away team. Kirkland was a clear choice ... he was a skilled engineer and an engineer is always a great asset to an away team. Mai was a skilled doctor and under the given circumstances, a doctor could be of a great value. Anyway ... who knows if what state will be Athena found ...
Rangi and her team asked for additional 30 Minutes to prepare Mai's and Kirkland's alterations and Shane ordered all 6 away team memebers to report to the transporter room in 45 Minutes. Kirkland tried to explain to Shane how will they try to beam onto the Ramulan Warbird. Shane was not too clever from his words, but the ADCEO said something about using the Kzneti scan beam as a carrier signal for the Chimera's transporter beam. With some modification of frekvences and amplitudes and other settings what Shane called 'Engineering goulash' for himself, the away team SHOULD be able to be beamed on the warbird unnoticed.
Shane was not too happy about the risky way they were about to take, but he learn long ago to trust the senior officers on board ... afterall every single of them was a hand picked quality officer.
Shane looked at his new uniform with some disguist. He wore the uniform of an Tal'shiar erie'Arrain, a bit darker version of the standart Galae uniform. The rank Shane wore was more or less equal to an Lieutenant ... not too high to be suspicious, but high enough to be able to move freely around the ship ... at last Shane hoped so. Shane wore no visible weapon, only two class one personal phasers concealed in the long sleeves of his uniform. He ordered no visible weapons for the away team, Shane was sure that it was not usual even for an Tal'shiar ship for the crew to be aramed all the time. A replicated Romulan version of an tricoder and an implanted emergency transporter beacon was the only other equipment.
===== Transporter room 1, USS Chimera, 10 Minutes later =====
Shane looked at the small 'Romulan' troop that was assembled in the transporter room. Noone was late, even if one or two catched the dead line just so, but what counted was that all were present ... clother in the right (romulan) uniforms and that noone tried to smuggle extra weapons like MCpt. Walsh tried even a day ago. Three ODA marines were uniformed as Tal'shiar crew, MaiKai, Kirkland and the last marine as Galae members. MaiKai was he only woman in the team, but Shane hoped that upon return there will be 2 woman in the away team ....Mai and Athena.
Slightly noding to his team he said: "All right folks, I hope everyone understood the plan of the action and his role during the mission. For those not absolutely sure what is about to happen, i will say a short summary. Our goal is to beam over on the Romulan Warbird, localise LT. Wellington that should be held captive there, get her and beam back on the Chimera. I know it might sound easy, but I am sure it will proove itself harder. Our motto is to be swift and stealth. We all wear an romulan uniform and look like romulans, so we ARE romulans for the duration of the mission. We wont use any weapons, unless in direct danger or at my command. Lt. Kirkland will try to localise the counselor once on the warbird. Lt. Quiocho joined us for the case that the counselor or any of our team will be in need of urgent medical attention."
Shane looked around and continued: "We will be beamed on deck 15, section A. From there we will begin our search. Unfortunately, we have to return to the same place for beaming back on the Chimera, otherwise we will be detected." Shane pointed to the place on his arm where the emergency transporter beacon was implanted. "The beacons we all got implanted are for emergency cases only ... cause the romulans will detect the usage of them. They will know the place from where it was activated and the destination where you have been beamed."
"Any questions?" Shane asked. When none came he moved over on the trasporter platform and waited for the rest of the away team to do the same. When all of them were ready, Shane commanded: "Chief, energize ..."
===== Deck 15, Section A, Romulan Warbird =====
The seven members of the away team materialised in an small empty storage room. The room was picked for its position. It was not on any major route on the warbird, so the chance of been sighed while materialising was small, but the security offices with the prison cells area were not too far away.
One of the marines ended his scan of the surrounding area: "Area is green" he said. Shane noded and turned to Kirkland: "Go ahead Lieutenant". Kirkland pulled out his tricoder and pushed several buttons. After several seconds he noded as well: "I have the counselor's signal, assigning a lock on it ..." He pointed a way: "This way".
