**** Bridge * USS Chimera **** "Lieutenant...go to Yellow Alert and prepare to raise shields." Lieutenant Foster acted immediately and a second or so later the yellow lights began flashing at one second intervals. He half turned in his seat and looked at her expectantly, his hand poised above the consol ready to respond to the next command to raise the shields.He wondered why she waited. Two yellow flashes and seven fast finger tappings on the chair arm saw her make the decision. "Raise shields" she said finaly and Andersen turned away, quickly setting the command into practice. "Shields raised ma'am." he said looking back at her once more. "Operating at 98% efficiency." "Don't change the frequency." she said, raising a finger as though in warning. "Ma'am?" he replied, obviously confused as to the reason for ignoring standard procedure. "Not yet." she added and explained. "We'll take a chance lieutenant. Lets ..'suppose'...that the Away Team are still undetected.If thats the case, Lt Kirkland will know the shields frequency, obviously. Its a slim chance I agree..but we'll gamble on them being able to transport out." Lt Foster didnt look very convinced and Rangi turned to Dexter. "Ensign..keep sending the tachyon scans. I want to know if that ship moves as much as an inch." "Yes ma'am" he replied, hardly sparing time to glance in her direction. "They wont be sure whether or not our shields are raised. " she said looking back to Andersen. "...but we'll do what we can to help them. Keep searching for a way to penetrate the cloak.If we can modulate it properly we can force a transport signal through and get them out anyway."
