=/\= Warbird =/\= As the away team walked to the shuttlebay, Kirkland was a bit too confident with his abilities. He'd defused 2 situations with Romulan contact before and began to feel invinsible. Against the XO's orders, he found himself at the point position with a member of the ODA. The other ODA fell back to his position and held it. He continued walking until a Romulan approached him. "Lieuteant, I need to test this scanner. Hold still" Kirkland panicked. "I don't need to be scanned." He backed off abruptly. "Don't be silly. I need to calibrate this." He did not relent to the young Romulan woman's request. "That's an order, Lieutenant!" He looked to see that she had the equivalent rank of LtCmdr with her insiginia. He hesitated further. "Damn it. Why are you acting like this?" She hesitated before backing away. "I'm going to report this to the Tal'Shiar, I think." She began to quickly walk away towards a comm panel. Kirkland reached for a concealed phaser, set it for heavy stun, and fired, striking her in the back. She collapsed to the floor and he rushed toward her, turning to the other ODA member. "We need to find a place to put her so nobody knows." As they prepared to move the body, a guard turned the corner. "I thought I heard a phaser ... halt!" He pointed his disruptor menacingly at Kirkland. "What did you do?" "I didn't do anything!" The guard shook his head. "Both of you will be coming with me." Kirkland took his phaser and tried to fire again, but couldn't aim quickly enough and missed. The Romulan growled in anger. "Federation spies!" and fired and him, striking him in the arm. Kirkland's uniform began to smoke as it was incinerated by the disruptor. Red blood gushed openly from his wounded arm as he fell to the ground, groaning in the sharp pain of the blast. The ODA member fired his disruptor, killing the guard. He turned to Kirkland and tried to treat the wound, before waving everyone else forward. "This is pretty bad. Let's try to use some of her clothing to stop the bleeding." As he looked to the side, not wanting to see how bad the wound was, he saw Commander Guzman come up to the team. "I'm sorry, Commander." was the only thing he could say. =/\= END LOG =/\= LtJG Kirkland DCEO USS Chimera -- ___________________________________________________________ Sign-up for Ads Free at Mail.com http://promo.mail.com/adsfreejump.htm
