=/\= Romulan Shuttle =/\= They say time can pass in an instant and that was no truer than on the small shuttle. The Romulans used an antiproton scan to penetrate Kirkland's cloak and they opened fire again, disabling the cloaking device. He raised shields, but the damage had been done. The Romulan strike had been surgical. They could have destroyed the small ship, but they wished to disable it. That meant one thing ... The Romulans wanted prisoners. He turned back to Maikai, who sighed in disbelief at her station. "Shields failing" came the call. This was it, he thought. The Romulans would finish them off. He suddenly felt something as he was dematerialized by a transporter beam. He stood still in the beam, giving no resistance. =/\= Sickbay =/\= Suddenly, Kirkland rematerailzed and lunged forward, at one of the Doctors with his phaser drawn. "You won't capture me, Romulan bastards!" he called out. He grabbed a medical officer and used her as a shield. His actions were entirely instinctual and he wasn't even aware he was doing it. He heard one of the ODA men call out: "Holy shit!" One drew their phaser and pointed it at Kirkland while the other slowly walked from the side. "It's ok, Lieutenant. You're on the Chimera." His calming voice helped relax Kirkland, who released his grip on the young nurse and stepped back, dropping his phaser to the ground.
