*** CMOs Office * USS Chimera *** { Heavens sakes!} Rangi gave a sigh of annoyance, observing the chaos that had once been an ordered desk. She picked up four padds and hesitated,undecided where to put them, for having made a space large enough to work on, there was little room for the ones she now held, short of building a stack. Swivelling her chair, she leaned forward and set the padds on the floor beside her. {Right...where was I?..} She had the report from the medical lab in front of her and read it through carefully, re reading a sentence or two and absently tapping her fingers on the desk in an erratic rhythm as she did so. {Mmmmm....interesting...} She leaned back in chair and considered all she had read, pressing the thumb of her clenched hand against her chin, one arm across her body and the other propped on it. {Very interesting...} Sitting forward suddenly, she pressed the button to open a comm. channel. "Sickbay to Bridge." she said clearly. A reply came almost immediately. "Yes commander" Shane answered, using as ever,a formal term when addressing her on duty. "I have the results back regarding Lt Wellington." she told him and scrolled along the written text on the medpadd. "I've sent you a copy of her report. Her state is improving, though she's still very sleepy....... and still quite talkative. You should have the recording of that too." Rangi selected a relevant part of the report and read it as she explained to Shane. "You'll see she had fractured ribs,a laceration on her left cheek and extensive bruising. Now this could have been the result of an accident...or it could have been inflicted either on Kzentis planet or aboard the Warbird.It's difficult to tell...but either way, it happened within the last five or six hours. I say 'inflicted' because of the bruising on her left wrist and the damage to her hands. Such injuries could be the result of a fight...or an effort to escape from someone intent on holding her captive." Rangi scrolled down the padd, shifted slightly on her chair and continued with her explanation. "I had a few tests done because her biosigns showed an unknown substance in her blood.Well the results are interesting....and thats why I'd veer to 'inflicted' rather than 'accident' as the cause of her injuries. Theres a high level of something resembling Methiopentine in her system. It isnt that exactly." she added hurredly"...but its very close." There was a pause when she realised Shane wasnt too familiar with the drug or its use. "If she had been given that, it would induce a sort of half waking, half sleeping state...She would be fully relaxed and susceptible to suggestions.She'd lose her inhibitions...and possibly, with the right approach, might be willing to answer any questions posed to her. Its a so called 'truth serum'....and whats in her system now is very very close to that drug ...too close to be a coincidence in my opinion." This time the pause was longer. "I see.." he said at last,then after a few more seconds added.. "Please keep me up to date with her progress." "Ofcourse." Rangi replied and the communication ended. She switched off the medpadd and sat back again in her chair, this time cupping her right fist in her left palm. "Too much of a coincidence.
