<< OOC ... just sending for Rangi while she is on holidays ... ;) >> *** Sickbay USS Chimera *** Rangi clicked the tricorder to 'off' and gave her patient a reassuring smile as she did so."Thats all we need to do." she said exchanging the tricorder for a medpadd "...and I'm pleased to say you're perfectly fit and well. You could afford to gain a few pounds but its nothing to worry over....a few square meals and a more relaxed environment perhaps...?" Peter Heher pulled his grey jacket straighter and nodded, saying with a smile."Oh I could manage both of those doctor!" "Theres just one thing...." Rangi broke off,looking first to her left then right. Peter too was aware of a faint buzzing noise."What's.... that?" he asked suspiciously. "hmmmm...this!" Rangi picked up the tricorder and pressed two buttons.The buzzing stopped, but only for a second, beginning again as Rangi set the tricorder down. She frowned at it, picked it up and tapped at the buttons. Peace reigned. Rangi turned to Peter."Sorry about that.." she said,giving him a polite smile "...where were we?..oh yes...theres one thing I want you to be aware of though..." "Oh?" Immediate concern clouded his face. "It's nothing desperate...just that when...of for heavens sakes!" Rangi thrust the medpadd into Peters hands, grabbed the tricorder and pounded on the two buttons.The buzzing faltered...and stopped. Rangi sighed. Offering the medpadd back he asked "You were saying?" Rangi accepted the padd and scrolled down to the end of the results she had transferred from the scanners.Moving to stand beside him,so that he could see, she showed the text, pointing to the piece she wanted to explain. Peter peered at the closely worded script. "See? it says here ...... Heightened reaction to ... I dont believe it!" A loud intermittent buzzing drew their attention back to tricorder. Peter stepped forward and lifted it up. "What's wrong with it?" he asked. " I don't know" Rangi replied with exasperation. "Blessed thing!" Peter considered the instrument."Well usually a background radiation might cause this." He looked up at her. "..or a dampening field?" "It could be because I dropped it this morning" she replied thoughtfully. "Thats .........probably it then" Peter responded with a faint glimmer of amusement in his eyes. Rangi nodded, took hold of the tricorder and looked at Peter. "Be right back" she said and walked off in the direction of a closed door bearing the warning 'Medical Staff Only' Peter glanced down at the medpadd and tried to understand what it said. Rangi returned. "I'm so sorry Mr Heher." she said genuinely Peter smiled at the young woman."Its not a problem...... err...but you were going to explain about this?" Rangi nodded."Yes." She resumed her place beside him and indicated a paragraph midway down the screen. "Basically this says that you had an 'over reaction' to the sedative we gave you." Peter looked surprised. "I did?" "Yes.I wrote it in here so that any doctor will be aware of it...should you ever need to have a sedative again. Its a warning against the use of Merferdon...thats the one you were given....the 'root' drug." She glanced at him as she explained."...and it also advises that others such as Amoxyferdon...Co-triferdon...actually all the derivitives... might have similar effects. Its not a problem though, there are many other types to use." She smiled reassurance to him. "I see.What do you mean exactly by...'over reaction'?" Rangis smile widened. She took the medpadd and switched it off. "Well...sedatives sometimes dont make you sleepy as such...just make you feel at ease..happy." Peter considered this. "Like...alcohol you mean?" he queried. "mmm...yes...sort of." "Oh." Peter shifted from one foot to the other uneasily."Did I?...was I?..." He looked directly at his companion. "What did I do?" he demanded. Rangi glanced away, controlling the urge to laugh."Nothing much." she said, returning her attention to him. "Please tell me." he said seriously. "I really hope I havent stepped out of line." "No...you didnt.Really...theres nothing to tell." He looked a her doubtfully. "One of the AMO's was with me." Rangi said and Peter nodded, recalling the pretty dark haired woman. "You...called one of us an elephant and the other an angel." she told him and a wide smile spread across her face. "Never!..I didnt....did I?" Rangi nodded, touched his arm and laughed. "Dont worry about it...I've heard MUCH worse than that!" Peter smiled uncertainly."I do apologise." he said."...and please tell the other young woman...I didnt mean to offend either of you." "Really...its alright!" Rangi was surprised by the scientists reaction. "Youve been so kind to us." he continued." God knows what would have happened to us all if you hadnt arrived when you did...and almost all of were rescued....just two left behind." He stood dejectedly, staring at the floor. "Peter?" Rangi spoke quietly waiting for him to look at her. When he did so she said.."They might yet be rescued.They could still be alive...and if they are then the away team will find them...and bring them home." After a moment or two he forced a small smile and said simply: "Thankyou." A moment passed in silence. "Let's get you something to eat."
