= Starbase Bragg
Nick hoisted the bag back onto his shoulder, he had been forced to drop it
momentarily so he could put it in a position more suitable to carrying it.He
was on the way to his new assignment, or rather his old assignment. He was
returning to the USS Chimera after his absence to continue work on his own
personal projects.
He scratched at the implant on the back of his hand thoughtfully as he
walked, wondering how the crew had fared since he had last been aboard. He had
reviewed the personnel listings on his way to SB Bragg and had discovered a
surprising number of crew changes, not least of which was that his friend
Lieutenant Blackburn had been taken away on a medical ship an dplaced into
quarantine due to his exposure to the pollen which had afflicted the entire crew.
However he was pleased to see that the old command team of Bretam, Shane and
rangi was still present aboard. He was expecially looking forward to Rangi, and
catching up with the bubbly CMO.
Nick nodded to various crewmembers as he passed, recognising some of their
faces from their personnel records form abaord the Chimera, "So many new
faces," he remarked to himself, attracting a strange look from the manager of a bar
he passed.
He flicked idly through the PADD he held in his hand, scrolling through
information on what exactley had gone on in the engineering department since he
had left it while he was Chief Engineer. He was not pleased to see that a large
amount of his engineering crew, specifically those he had worked closely
with, indeed the only name he recognised was Ensign Xenai Alshain and he wasnt
happy by the fact he didnt know the name of the ACEO, though that could be
easily rectified.
= Some time later - Airlock Corridor
Nick raised an eyebrow as he entered the airlock corridor and looked to the
end where the Chimera was docked, just a few hundred metres away. It appeared
that there was no guard on duty, at least not at the moment.
However, the reason for this was clear as he drew closer to the door, the
door was securely locked and visible on the other side was a member of the
Chimera's security forces.
He approached the door and tapped an indicator before speaking clearly,
"Computer, release Airlock Door."
[Identification required]
"Lieutenant Commander Nick Quayle. Authorisation Quayle-Omega-4-1"
[Voice print and authorisation confirmed] the computer responded and the
door slid open just long enough for Nick to board before sliding swiftly shut
behind him.
He nodded to the security officer, clearly his rank pips and the computer's
willingness to allow him acces to the vessel was enough to convince the
officer that Nick had every right to be aboard.
He walked briskly to the nearest turbolift, only stopping briefly to hand a
passing crewman the PADD detailing the location of his quarters and his bag
and asking him to see to it it was delivered
= A little more time later - Main Engineering
Nick stood speechless for a moment as he entered Main Engineering, not only
because he was so glad to be back in the heart of the Chimera but also becuase
of the disarray he found, engineers were ling inside and outside of consoles
tinkering with various bits of equipment while others tapped information
into consoles, {I presume the stopover at Bragg is an excuse to pull the
Chimera's innards out and hopefully put them back in the right place} he thought,
while concentrating on the feelings he was getting from the engineering teams,
they were clearly under pressure and felt a sense of frustration that they
had not been told the exact reasons why they had to perform the work.
"Where might I find the Chief Engineer" he said turning to a young woman
busy writing a report at one of the stations.

have finally read all your logs since January. I am impressed with the quality,
some things never change :-) I will do a JL with anyone, just contact me>>
