====== Holodeck 2, USS Chimera =====
The blue-ish sunlight on Isikava III gave the whole scenery some sort of an exotic feeling. The strangely shaped leaves on the trees were quite in oposition to the vast known terran-like trees and their leaves as well. A small yellow animal, remotely looking like a terran squirrel watched a lonely runner nearing its tree. The weather was sunny and mild, temperature some 21 degrees of celsius and the runner seemed not to hurry much. There was little to no sweat on the mann's dress.
The dress itself was an exotic looking piece of cloth as well. Remotely ... very remotely it looked like the (again) vast known terran kimono, but the cloth was not white but blue and it was more loose then a kimono.
The runner finally reached the tree with the 'squirrel' on it and halted, leaned with his back on the tree's trunk. Looking at a little chrono on his wrist Shane asked: "Computer, what distance did i cross?"
[2 kilometers, 25 meters and 12 centimeters] replied the always calm voice of the Chimera's computer.
Noding to himself with a satisfied expression said said: "Thats enough for today" He considered the distance the ODA members were required to run on their out-door trainings but then shook his head: " 'Am no marine, let them have the fun". With that Shane started to do the 'end-of-training' kata from the art of Tai'chi. His movements were supposed to be slow and smooth ... and with some effort he was not too bad in achieving that.
Suddenly the feminine voice of the computer interrupted the idila: [The senior officer's meeting is sheduled to begin in 60 minutes.]
"Ahhh" Shane signed loudly a bit started about the interruption. But of course, it was he himself that asked the computer to remaind him about the meeting an hour prior to it. He was late to wellcome the General back on the ship and the last thing he wanted was to repeat that.
"Computer ... end program" he commanded. At once the Isikava's scenery vanisked and teh familiar dark room with a bright yellow grid of the holodeck appeared. Shane turned around to face the exit and in less then 5 seconds he was off the room.
===== Shane's quarters, 40 minutes later =====
Steping out the shower (using the sonic one ... just for the cause) Shane walked in the other room to find a fresh uniform. He was like god created him ... there was none else there in the quarters and wraping himself in a towel would mean him having to return the towel into the bath again. Or more probably ... it would mean to find the towel on a wet bed upon returing from his shift.
There was a little mess in Shane's bed room. Both he and Rangi slept over and she rushed out of Shane's room in a hurry ... there was something in medical Rangi wanted to oversee and she was already late. Taking a pale blue t-shirt from the chair Shane wondered about the color. He could not remeber buying it ... but when he stretched it out and compared the size ... he had to smile. It was Rangi's of course ... quite small for him ... and he instantly imagined Rangi walking through the corridor (even if their quarters were on the same deck) in his own (rather big) dark blue t-shirt.
Having luck and finding a fresh uniform, Shane quickly dressed himself and walked over to the first room where he took a small duranium flask and pured himself a cup of green tea. From the replicator accident he was quite paranoic about replicated food and drink and when having the time he always went down to the mess hall and asked the chip's new cheff V'lek Sameron to prepare a 'real' tea for him. On Bragg he bought this 'field' duranium flask and from that point he always kept a small supply of green tea ready.
Finding a rather unknown looking PADD on the table, he took it and began to read it. "Cerebral cortex ... frontal lobe, parietal lobe ..." He quickly put the PADD down on the table again ... the PADD was Rangi's of course. Shane was a medic as well ... but in the years that he was out of the academy he found that medicine was no great interest of him ... and you know ... a doctor is rarely a much liked person on a ship.
Finishing his cup of tea, Shane took the little duranium fask and walked out of his room. It was not a long way to the conference longue and Shane was there in few minutes. Noding to the crew staff on duty, Shane walked over to the longue's door and entered the room. Besides the General none was there yet. {I am still 15 minutes early} he said to himself.
Noding toward Bretam Shane said: "Good morning sir" and walked over to the seat that was next to Bretam's on the right. Smiling a bit he said as he placed his flask on the table next to several fresh looking dishes: "I am glad that its again you sitting on the head of the table"
