*** Lt Wellingtons quarters*** Athena was assured by the engineers that her room was fine now but she was still having some trouble relaxing with the door closed. She made a request that the computer leave the door to her quarters open. She took a couple of sips from her ice tea glass and sat back in the chair that wasn't visible from the hallway through the open door. She sat with her feet up on the coffee table and her head leaned back against the head rest of the chair. Her eyes closed and a smile small spread across her face at the peacefulness. * Sickbay * "Sweetheart...I'm sorry to be late. I meant to start the dinner but was called back to sickbay...and I've just got to call in to see Athena but I'll be back soon ok?...end message ..computer...send personal message to Commander Guzman?" [Personal message sent to Commander Guzman] the computer replied three seconds later. {Good} thought Rangi clicking off the desktop terminal. Five minutes later she had left sickbay and was approaching Athena's quarters, still a little annoyed that she had not been informed when the counselor requested to leave. Rangi came to a stop, surprised to see the door ajar. Stepping forward slowly she peered inside saying "Athena?" "Yes," Athena replied as she opened her eyes but didn't move. Sensing a hesitation, she said, "Come on in.. the door is open." She smiled a bit to herself and turned her head to see the CMO come through the open door and take a look around. Rangi smiled when she saw Athena's relaxed position. "There you are." she said walking across the room. "Sorry to disturb you. I came to see if you're OK and..if you feel up to it, to have a little chat." "Well, I wasn't told I couldn't chat and I'm bored silly," Athena replied good naturedly. "Can I get you a lemonade or something," she asked and waited for the reply. "No no no..its ok thank you..don't get up." Rangi sat down on the edge of the sofa."I'm on my way home..Shane will be itching to eat." she added with a happy smile."I wanted to talk to you though...about what's happened." Rangi's expression became serious. "This reaction to the sedative...its not good. I can't work out why you should suddenly have this happen to you. After all, you had this same drug twice before and it was fine then." Athena wrinkled her forehead in thought. "I'm not sure how I can be much help." She became thoughtful and finally replied, "I don't think I had ever been given a sedative before you gave me one." She looked at the doctor and hoped this would help answer whatever questions Rangi seemed to have. "I was wondering." Rangi said slowly, looking at the table edge then back to Athena. "Do you think there might be some connection with your increasing telepathic capabilities?" Hesitantly Athena replied, "I ... I don't think so." She gave another couple of moments thought before adding, "but let's not run tests to find out if you don't mind." She gave Rangi a weak smile as unpleasant thoughts ran through her head. "Is there anything else," she asked encouragingly hoping for a change of topics. Rangi's expression was, for a moment noncommittal. "Well.." she said after a seconds pause. "..it 'could' be that you're developing this allergy over time. The more often you come into contact with the drug, the worse the reaction would be. That's one possibility." She tapped her fingers on the sofa arm then smiled brightly and stood up. "Take things easy for a day or so...definitely no work," she said stressing the point "..but do me a favour..try to keep a track of how you feel physically when you practice telekinesis. Its new to you and there might be some connection there." She said nothing of her underlying worry that the sedative might be needed again and that s/bay might not be within easy reach if an extreme reaction resulted. "I'll go and see what Shane's up to then." she said. Athena rolled her eyes as Rangi repeated the words of "no work" that the young AMO had ordered. She smiled as she looked at Rangi and nodded to keeping track of how she felt, although she thought {I feel fine and relaxed usually.} At the mention of the XO's name, Athena said, "Tell him I say HI." "I will." Rangi replied returning the smile and began moving towards the door."See you soon" she said cheerfully and exited the counselors quarters. She had walked a dozen or so steps before she realized that she hadnt felt even a touch of jealousy at Athenas greeting to Shane. {There is no need.} she thought and smiling to herself at this conclusion she hurried towards the XOs quarters. *** End Log *** Lt Athena Wellington.
