Lieutenant JG Mercedes Carpenter [NPC] Assistant Medical Officer USS Chimera NCC 96899 = Sickbay Mercedes still didn’t trust the replicator system, at least not for food. After the last incident, they were still having trouble getting the smell out of Sickbay. Every couple of hours she would sneak out to the mess hall and get something from the food bar. The new chef made the most delicious salads and sandwiches, and his coffee was rich and tasty. She usually brought something along for the others as well, and this time it was a basket with muffins. After finishing the last bite from her muffin, Mercedes remembered she had a message for Rangi, who was in her office enjoying some coffee. “Commander Palmer postponed her physical,” she said, peaking in through the open door. “Again?” Rangi asked. Mercedes nodded. “The new helm officer is coming in for one in about five minutes. I’ll take care of him... enjoy your coffee.” Rangi replied with a thank you and Mercedes went over to the tool tray to get a medical tricorder. Just as she looked up the doors to Sickbay opened and a tall, dark haired man with a green collar walked in. That must be him, she thought to herself. “Can I help you?” she asked the man. “Yes, I’m Marine Captain Harker... I’m here for a routine physical,” he smiled. Mercedes looked up into his eyes and for a moment forgot her response. They were an icy light blue color that threatened to freeze her to the spot. “I... er... em, right this way,” she motioned to a biobed with a padd on it containing his medical history. “I am Doctor Mercedes... I mean Doctor Carpenter, my name is Mercedes.” “A pleasure to meet you, Doctor,” Nicolas replied, flashing his smile again. “Okay, let’s get started,” she said, taking a breath. Picking up the medical tricorder, she started to scan his cranial area. “I read in your medical history that you recently had a cranial fracture. Are you having any residual headaches?” “None at all,” he replied, sitting perfectly still. “It seems to have healed perfectly.” Out of the corner of her eye, Mercedes could see Lucy and Sally looking into the main ward to see who her patient was. No doubt his deep voice caught their attention. Next Mercedes moved the scanner down his spine to check for injuries. “The spinal cord injury that’s also listed seems to have healed very well.” Nicolas replied with a nod. “I’m sure you know how marines are. We tend to break and fracture a lot of things. Luckily we heal very well.” “I can see that,” she smiled. As she continued the rest of her scan, it became apparent that this marine was in excellent medical health and quite fit for duty. Mercedes turned around as someone cleared their throat behind her. “Mercedes... if you’re done here I’d like you to give me a hand with something.” She turned around to see Scott with his arms crossed over his chest, looking a bit stern. “Oh, sure Scott... I’m almost done,” she assured him. He stood a moment longer, then left. “A friend of yours?” Nicolas asked. “That’s Doctor Fisher,” she answered. “Currently the only male member of the Sickbay staff.” “He must be a lucky guy, surrounded by smart women all day. Between you and me, he looks a bit strict,” Nicolas grinned. “Oh, he’s really a sweet guy. He has the cutest laugh...” Mercedes quickly trailed off before she said too much. “Anyway, that concludes your physical. You’re fit for duty and free to go.” “Thank you, Doctor Carpenter. That was probably the most pleasant physical I’ve had in a long time,” he said with a wink, then left. Mercedes felt her ears go bright red as the handsome marine left the Sickbay. She quickly cleaned up the biobed and put the tricorder away. “Was that the new helmsman?” Sally asked when the coast was clear. “He’s gorgeous!” “I know,” Mercedes giggled. “You should’ve seen his eyes! They were so... so...” Suddenly she cleared her throat and frowned. “He’s not nearly as handsome as Scott, though.” Leaving Sally behind, she quickly rushed off to find Scott before embarrassing herself. = -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
