==Holodeck==
As Gary headed to the arch of the holodeck to make minor adjustments to
the program, he could not help but laugh at Aidan as he limped off in to
the corridor.
"Goddammit Williams, I think we did the X'Chi a bit too strong. Remind
me to stay at safe distant of giant bugs in the future" Aidan muttered
as he turned the corner slowly.
As Gary regained some resemblence of control with his laughing he looked
over to Richard Cortez. "you know he has a point. If we are all battered
form training we will not be in good shape for any action that comes our
way. May be I should change the safety protocols a bit to do less
damage." He remarked not expecting a response.
As Gary reached the arch he tapped on a few buttons and the holodeck
went back to its usually drab decore. Motioning over to Richard he waved
to the door. "You might as well take off. This might take me a while and
after wards I am going to head back and let the old man know it is
ready. Any ways, I am sure we will all become familiar with the
simulation before too long," he smiled. Richard nodded, "aye Petty
officer. See you later." He waved and headed out in to the corridor.
Gary then turned his attention back to the arch. {Well may be instead
of the creatures inflicting some bruises and pain, we should have a mild
shock delivered. Not enough to harm any one, but enough to get your
attention.} he thought. Gary started thumbing though the lines of code
and parameters to figure out exactly where he needed to make the change.
=an hour later=
Gary walked in to his quarters. They were not much, half as large as a
junior officer, but at lease he did not have to share with one of the
other crew. The room was barely big enough for a desk that was built in
to the wall, a twin size bed and a toilet and shower facility, but it
was enough for Gary.
With the sweat of the exercise of the holo grogram now dried and itchy
on his skin, he sat at the desk and prepared his report for the Major.
"Computer begin recording." The computer beeped in compliance.
"To Major Walsh."" he paused for a second. He recalled seeing the report
of a new lieutenant reporting on to the ship , a lieutenant Scott. The
officer was assigned to be the old mans assistant commander of the oda.
" .and second lieutenant Scott. Subject: Holo training configuration.
Major, the holo training exercise you requested has been completed.
Though the specifications for a Nova class vessel were readily available
in the ships computer database, there was a lack of detail on the
species you requested. Using the available data, Specialist Lynch and I
extrapolated the best we could. We have tested the program and made a
adjustments to give us a fair approximation of what the conditions might
be like in this scenario and it is ready for your approval.
Because of the size of the two holodecks on the ship, we will only be
able to accomidate one team per holodeck. If we are to train
simultaneously, we should be able to link the two decks together so both
teams can interact as if in one simulation.
Once you have approved the simulation, let me know what kind of training
schedule you would like to have and I will draw up the rotations and
place the requests to the ships operations department.
Petty officer first class Gary Williams."
He paused for a moment.
"computer end recording and play back." He ordered.
As the computer started to replay the recording, Gary stood up form his
chair and started to peel off his shirt. As the still damp shirt passed
over his head, the dried salt on his face scratched at him. He tossed
the shirt off to a corner of the room and walked over to the bed.
As the computer finished playing the recording, Gary sat on the edge of
the bed. "Computer send the message to Major Walsh and Lieutenant
Scott." The computer beeped in compliance. Gary then bent over and
removed his boots and tossed them in to the corner with the shirt.
Standing back up he started to unfasten the trousers and walk to the
shower. {Now for a sonic shower and a change of cloths. Then off to the
Mess hall. I hear they have a new chef on board. I wonder if I can get
him to cook up a real steak and a baked potato.} he thought. His mouth
started the water at the thought of real food. "Don't care what they
say, the real thing is better than replicated food any day." He said to
him self walking in to the shower area.
