Hi All, Another good week. There was alot of participation, and pleanty of good logs to read. Going forward we have another week or R&R. DOnt forget that 1LT Acheson and MCapt Walsh are running a subplot on the ship. And if war games are not your cup of tea, then you can alweays enjoy the sparce, but interesting attractions on the starbase. Col Bretam Keylor Captain USS Chimera _______________________________________________________________________ =/\= PROMOTIONS/ACADEMY/AWARDS =/\= ======================================================================= Promotions: None. ======================================================================= Academy: None ======================================================================= Awards: None. =/\= MISSION ASSIGNMENTS/MISSION SUMMARY/QUOTES OF THE WEEK =/\= ======================================================================= Mission Asignments Last Week: R&R R&R ======================================================================= Mission Summary ( by Rangi) In a restaurant bar on Starbase Kinsi, Shane was tempting Rangi with chocolate cake.The teasing conversation was interrupted by the arrival of a tall cloaked figure and a surprised Shane introduced Rangi to his brother Martin who displayed great charm and old fashioned manners by kissing her hand in greeting.It was soon obvious that the brothers were long out of touch with each other.When Martin learned of Shanes promotion and current position, he offered congratulations and asked if their parents were pleased about it.Rangi sensed a slight undercurrent in Shanes reply and the succeeding exchanges. She successfully tried to change the subject and Martin, despite Shanes protests, teasingly revealed some 'dark secrets' in his brothers past.When Rangi mentioned their sister, the mood darkened again, though she didnt understand why.Martin said he must leave to find a place to stay and Shane offered him the quarters he had arranged for himself and Rangi.That left them stranded as Chimera had gone on 'manoeuvers' but Shane suggested they ask for a shuttle.Rangi thought that would be fun. Meanwhile, from Chimeras bridge, Acheson contacted Colonel Bretam to ask permission to engage in simulated battle-type maneuvers with the USS Simpson. Keylor agreed to the request providing safety measures were put in place. Acheson explained his well thought out plans. LtAndersen Foster had been in his cramped quarters on Starbase Kinsi for some time and at last received a communique from SFI. He was astounded to learn that he was now a part of an ODA team but slowly realized the reasoning behind his transfer....his unusual medical history.He decided his only chance to avoid being used as target practice was to speak to Colonel Bretam...as soon as possible. MCapt Jack Walsh was looking around his new quarters and getting to know his ODA team, courtesy of the computer. He was disturbed by a summons from Keylor ordering him to a meeting in the Captains ready room.Jack went in search of a turbolift...and found something else....an old 'friend' ...Stephanie Camden.He had hardly time to arrange a further meeting with her before he was contacted by Acheson, asking him to report to the Bridge.It was a good 20 mins before he arrived there. Acheson introduced himself and suggested Walsh might be interested in taking the ODA team on the proposed manouevers, so giving him an opportunity to get to know them.This idea didnt meet with the enthusiasm Acheson had expected and the two men smoothed over a small heated exchange of words, after Walsh agreed to take the team. Stephanie Camden had received her orders at long last and joined Chimera.She went in search of her quarters and later, making her way to the science labs, she 'bumped into' Jack Walsh. Surprised to see the captains insignia on his collar, she asked about it but Jack didnt wait to explain, telling her only that he had to see the Colonel. He suggested a dinner later. Stephanie wondered if meeting him again was a good thing or not. Athena relaxed in a holodeck after enjoying her lively game of 'tag' with the children.As she began to meditate, her thoughts turned to Rob and the happy and sad times they had shared.Eventually she slept. Maikai was just waking up!She intended to work in the Starbase infirmary but her preparations were interrupted by a recorded message a friend on Earth telling her the sad news that her step brother had died in an accident. She wished she was able to talk to him.Later she took her dog Caine for a walk on the promenade and rested outside one of the restaurants, thinking again about her family.Caine made friends with one of the crew form the Starbase ...in an over familiar fashion!...but Maikai didnt notice and returned to her quarters to shower and rest. Acheson made ready to leave Kinsi and almost immediately ran into trouble by causing a near collision with the Starbase. He declined the offer of help and realigned the course himself, finally setting off for the 'war games' area.Once again he called Walsh to the Bridge to run over the plans. The main Ops on Starbase Kinsi was manned by Ensign Skywalker <<mmm...I know that name from somewhere....>> who was trying his best to stay awake at the end of a tedious early shift. He thought over the recent arrival of the Chimera and his captains orders that everything be running smoothly during the ships visit....for she was, after all, an SSF ship...and possibly spying on them. <<drat it...discovered already!!!>> The ensign himself had had problems with two of Chimeras senior officers who hadnt fooled him by their appearance of being a couple. Not content with VIP quarters, the XO had requested a shuttle as well.Skywalker would have liked to deny the request, but being under orders to fulfil any wishes from their 'guests' he had arranged it...but kept a scan lock on them! He hadnt been fooled by the Chimeras counselor either...she had definately been sent to test the base security.Suddenly there was 'a test' for himself. Chimera pretended to fly an incorrect course as it left the Starbase and he responded by offering help in text book fashion. He wasnt fooled at all! THE CTAC decided to begin target practice on vector acquisition buoys and after missing the first, he improved in skill and confidence and turned his attention the photon torpedo testing.This certainly didnt go as he intended for the first one missed its target, turned and headed back for the ship.!! USS Simpson hailed and informed Chimera she was ready to engage in the simulation...and the drill would begin in half an hour. Unable to find the CEO, Gaalen returned to his quarters and receved a mysterious message telling him to return to the place he had been at some hours before.Intrigued, he took the last shuttle for the base. Athena rushed from the holodeck on her way to her appointment with the Colonel.He was waiting patiently for her in the restaurant as arranged some hours before pleased to have been able to find the clay and other materials for their proposed art project.When Athena arrived, Keylor asked if she wanted something to eat but despite missing two meals Athena refused, not wanting to delay things.They went to the small room that Keylor had set up and began to mold the clay. Athena was eager to make headway and worked quickly. Keylor,a craftsman by nature, took his time and worked at a slower pace. Athena became increasingly smeared in clay as her creation took form. Keylor piece was ready for firing first and he watched Athena put the last touches to her plate and as she finished, tossed a small wet clay disc at her, making fun of the mess she was already in.Athena retaliated in kind by applying clay of her own to his cheek.When her fingers touched Keylors scar, she unthinkingly said aloud what she thought ie that men with scars were sexy. Realising to whom she was talking,she made her excuses and beat a hasty retreat.Keylor got over his surprise and completed the job of firing their pottery, deciding that Athenas decoration would look well on his own pitcher...that it would in fact make a nice set. <<looks @Athena....and Keylor....:;smiles:: >> LT Blackburn was coping with minor problems on his shuttle when he noticed a second shuttle approaching the station.Contacting the craft, he found it was carrying Ens Gaalen. Mike invited Gaalen to join him for the 'war games' aboard Chimera. In a 'tea shop' on Starbase Kinsi, Elsie Oppenhimer was talking to her sister in law Maggie. They discussed the few crew members of Chimera they had seen on the base and the fact that as 'spies' each one was too unbelievable to be true! Aboard Chimera.Mercedes was woken by an alarm call.She had fallen asleep at her desk midway through composing a letter home, but thinking about her family and the situation surrounding her leaving, made her unhappy. She decided she would check up on the situation in Sickbay. and then find a holodeck. Mike prepared engineering for the coming 'games' and wondered what would happen if the ship came under actual attack while the simulation was taking place. Keylor returned to the ship to check on the preparations for the wargames and catch up on other 'padd' work. He was interested in why Walsh would want to transfer from Starfleet to marines and summoned him to the readyroom.Walsh was quite open about his past and answered all Keylors questions. Keylor told him Andersen Foster was transferring to Chimera too, knowing the pair had served on the Archer together but explained he was assigning Andersen to Ops rather than the ODA as suggested by SSF. Meanwhile, Athena noticed Shanes brother enter the coffee shop where she sat.He noticed her too(!) and asked if he might join her.Each intrigued the other as they tried to find out their respective roles. ======================================================================= Quotable Quotes (by Rangi) Suspended housing? "How odd," he said outloud. ...the message which read: "Meet me at the same place.... He had always loved mysteries and this was one, in a way, that intrigued him to his very core. Ens Gaalen "Colombo" Idrani What time is it? Digging into her pocket, Mercedes pulled out her chronometer which was the source of the beeping. She activated the holographic display and then said a few choice words as she remembered why the timer had gone off almost two hours before already.
