===== Deck 5, outside sickbay ===== With resolved footsteps Ra’nar strolled towards the sickbay entrance. There were a number of reasons that Ra’nar needed to visit, firstly he was the ODA Medical Specialist and yet his Medical equipment was incredibly limited. It seemed that getting injured was not something that the ODA liked to think about, unfortunately Ra’nar’s role was a defensive one and thus he had to be equipped to same standard as a Starfleet Nurse. There was also the fact that Ra’nar was half hoping to run into Lucy, it had been a few weeks since he meet her on the station and she had most definately left an impression. Lucy was restocking a trolley. Her shift was nearing its end and she planned an evening of relaxation, possibly in the holodeck, she couldnt decide. Her mood was cast down owing to a slight upset with her 'friend' John Henderson. Her mind was wandering back to their last meeting when her attention was caught by a tall figure standing just inside the main door. {Mmm...} she thought { I wonder what he wants here.} Laying the three phials she held carefully onto the trolley, she straightened her uniform and walked towards the newcomer. "Hello" she said approaching him " May I help you?" Ra’nar walked in with a friendly smile on his face. "I was hoping I could stock up on some supplies." said Ra’nar holding his Medical pouch which was half the size of an average marine Bergin. "The ODA weapons are second to none, but the medical equipment...is not so good." "Supplies....right" Lucy eyed the pouch."Well, I dare say we can help you...what do you need exactly?" She smiled in responce to the tall marine and indicated that he follow her to the storeroom next to Lab 2. Ra’nar walked behind Lucy towards the Lab fighting with every step not to stare at her behind, “Well I don’t even think I have enough Rexlin to knock out cat let alone a wounded Marine. I could also use some Hypercoagulin and Formazine.” Ra’nar thought for a moment, “Could I have two Exoscalpel’s as-well, along with a Neural Stimulator, if that’s not to much trouble,” said Ra’nar with another smile. "Oh I'm sure we can run to that. " Lucy said, glancing at the tall figure."The Rexlin is on here...and the Hypercoagulin ...on here also...and the Formazine.." She reached to a shelf, taking down full boxes of the medications he had requested. She turned to him, her arms full of boxes. "There you are." Ra’nar paced his arms under hers to take the boxes trying not to inadvertently brush up against her inappropriately, even if half of him did want to. “Thanks a lot.” said Ra’nar placing the boxes on a bench. “Feel free to tell me to get lost, but when I entered you seemed a bit down, is everything okay?” asked Ra’nar genuinely concerned. Lucy stepped back turning away, a small frown crossing her face."Everythings fine."she said, busying herself finding the equipment he wanted. She straightened up and turned back to him. "Will these be ok?" she asked offering two medcases and not meeting his eye. Ra’nar noticed that she was not making eye contact and she clearly wanted him to go. But Ra’nar was willing for one more try, "It’s just that I saw John in the holodeck earlier when I was working out, he looked pretty down too." "Did he?" Lucy quickly raised her head then looked away. "I mean...did he?" she repeated with an effort to sound disinterested. Ra’nar smiled, "Yes, he almost ripped Walker’s head then he made one of his ill placed remarks. Other than that he said nothing for the two hours he was training, and I knew something was up because ODA like to talk." "Oh. " was all the nurse replied. She considered his words for a few seconds then looked at him.She gave a self concious smile. "Well...thats the equipment you asked for.I'm sure if theres anything else you need the CMO will allow it.Do you want to see her?" Ra’nar look down at Lucy and let out a small sigh, "That would be great." Ra’nar followed Lucy back to the main part of sickbay and then into the Chief Medical officers office. Lucy tapped on the slightly open door and stepping into the office said " Rangi? Private Ra'nar is here to see you. He needed some supplies and equipment." Rangi, working at her desk, looked up as the pair entered, got to her feet and extended a hand. "Private Ra'nar...welcome to sickbay. Have you everything you need?" She looked at the Cardassian, tall and imposing. "We're fully stocked." she added "..and will be pleased to help you where we can." Ra'nar snapped a salute at the commander before answering, and for the look on her face it was clear that she was not used to such treatment, "Yes, ma'am! I believe I have everything, Ma'am!" Said Ra'nar still holding the salute. Taken aback by Ra'nars formal action, Rangi raised her offered hand, returned the salute and doing her best to ignore Lucys amused look said " At ease private. " The result was that he stood 'at ease' so Rangi said..."Please...take a seat." and sat down in her own chair. Ra'nar sat down in the chair as told. "Thank you for the supplies Commander." said Ra'nar relaxing slightly, "I would not usually have come to sickbay for them but it seems that with the installation of the shields, ODA medical equipment was over looked." "Was it indeed" Rangi said, partly to herself, with a small frown appearing for a second."Have you made that known to Commander Guzman?" she asked, thinking that she was right in suspecting things were being rushed in an effort to modify the ship. Ra'nar was a little surprised at the question, he had never even considered reporting it to the XO, "No, Commander. It was my belief that it was a pure mistake and thus not worthy of such a report." Rangi didnt look so convinced. Lucy, taking advantage of the break in conversation caught Rangis eye. "Thankyou Lucy." Rangi said and the nurse left the office glancing at at Ra'nar as she turned away. As Lucy walked out of the office she began smiling to herself about the Salute when she was caught midstep by a transporter beam materialising two men in front of her. One was lying on his back outcold with massive wounds to his face and the other cradling his wounded friend. Lucy rushed over, "What happened?" she asked grabbing a med kit. "We were making instalments to the backup shield generators when a conduit overloaded," said the man clearly in shock. Lucy injected the wounded man with a painkiller before calling out at the top of her voice, "Rangi! We got massive trauma." Rangi sprang from her chair as Ra'nar jumped to his feet. They rnade for the door, Ra'nar getting there first. Lucy was endeavouring to get the shocked engineer to leave his friend, soothingly telling him that all was well and that his friend was in good hands. "Help me get him to a biobed" Rangi told Ra'nar kneeling beside the injured man. Ra'nar took the upper body and Rangi the lower, to gether the placed him onto the biobed as quick as possible without causing further injury. Ra'nar had a quick look at the injuries. {First degree burns} thought Ra'nar before rushing over to the get more equipment. "What do you need?" shouted Ra'nar as he moved. " Bring the Dermaline Katoline and a regenerator" She took a tricorder and began a scan. "We need to clean this up quickly" she said " he has serious damage to his eye." Ra'nar rushed back with the Dermaline Katoline and the Portable Dermal regenerator. "It does not look good." Ra'nar moved the regenerator into position over the Engineers head, his yellow collar was now a blood stained red. "With injuries like this when installing equipment who needs combat?" said Ra'nar to himself as he worked not intending for Rangi to hear, but it seemed that she did. "We had plasma burns earlier too" she said, concentrating on activating an infusion unit. "I've just about had enough of the modifications I can tell you!" She glanced at Ra'nar. "Lets work on the eye...the rest can wait." Ra'nar took a more extensive look at the eye, the main concern was the eye socket. Although the eye itself was a little laserated, it could be repaired. But if the socket collapsed back in onto the eye the engineer would lose his sight, Ra'nar could only assume that a piece of metal from the conduit struck the man in the face as it exploded and caused the injury. Ra'nar slowly begain cutting round the socket with an elctroscalpal, in order to the bone and stabilise it. They worked together, {Remarkably well} Rangi thought later and steadily performed the delicate surgery. They spoke little, each seeming to know what the other required. Time passed. Lucy came to assist and finally Rangi looked up at Ra'nar, gave a small satisfied smile and said: "That's it I think.Thankyou Ra'nar..your help was invaluable." Ra’nar gave a momentary look down at the patient before answer, his face looked much better. There would still need to be minor reconstruction, but it was a marked improvement. Ra’nar turned his head back to Rangi, "That is no problem Commander, I am glad I could help. If you ever need an extra pair of hands in sickbay again don’t hesitant to ask, after all, I could use the practice." "After a day like today I might just call on you!" Rangi smiled. Ra’nar smiled at the response and walked over to the boxes of equipment and supplies. As Ra’nar walked out of sick bay he realised that he had just enough time to store the supplies before heading to the ODA meeting. ===== Eng Log ====== Lt.
