She practically marched as she almost silently= said, "I hate bugs. I hate bugs." She knew she had left herself little time to m= et the general and the repetitive phrase helped to hasten her steps. Keylor walked down the corridor towards Athena's quarters. After asking to meet her after the briefing, He figured she would either be in her office or= attached living quarters. He figured the time in his ready room would have g= iven her plenty of time to prepare for his pending arrival and talk. As he made h= is way down the hall, he saw Athena walking stiffly, almost as in deep concentration, muttering something. He stopped and waited for her to reach= him. As Athena turned the corner she ran into a tall solid body as she continued her= chant about hating bugs and with her mind occupied with thoughts of what the= General might have to say. A crimson color spread through her cheeks when s= he looked up to see she had run into her very thoughts practically. "Sorry, General," she started, "am I late?" Keylor smiled, "No your not late," he responded in a light tone. He looked down the hall in either direction and pointed, So how about we go to your office. I hear the rumor mill is running rampant and I would not want to gi= ve them any more fuel than I have to," he smiled pointing in the direction of Athena= 's office. Athena nodded and reversed her direction as she shook off the last of her encounter in the holodeck. Teasingly she asked, "Do you think your reputati= on can handle a trip to the counselor's office?" She implied that the crew mig= ht begin to question is sanity with the this visit. Keylor smiled back," Well counselor, as Rumors go, I can't be hurting it. I am sure I have only heard= the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Any way, it has to be better than going to yo= ur living quarters," he said knowing how the rumors on the small little ship mu= st be buzzing of lucid affairs. As they reached the door she pressed in the cod= e to open the door and entered before him. Athena motioned to the two chairs and sofa seating area in her office. She opted not to sit behind her desk e= ven if it would give her some kind of mental protection or upper hand. Although= she doubted that any too often got the upper hand with the general. She started to sit in one of the chairs and then asked, "Would you like somethin= g to drink," instead and moved toward the replicator. Keylor shook his head, "No thank you, " he replied as he walked up behind on= e of the chairs and remained standing. She ordered a glass of ice water for herself and one for the general and brought them back to where they were goi= ng to be sitting. She sat down in a chair with her own glass and took a small= sip before asking, "So, what can I do for you?" Keylor took the glass, wondering if she had even heard his rejection of the offer. Not worried about it, he took the glass. "So Counselor. How is your control of your telekinetic abilities going? Are you close to mastering them= ? Or at least controlling them?" Athena thought for a moment and respond with, "I'm becoming more adept at using them with smaller objects in particular such as glasses and mugs. I s= till don't have a lot of control with heavier objects." Listening to Athena's rep= ly he now knew the switching of the mugs at the briefing were no slight accident. Leaning over the chair, he set the beverage down on the table and= looked over to Athena. "Counselor. I know you must think we are all stuffed shirts= here in the SSF. But the incidental mug switching at the briefing was a distracti= on we don't need in times like that," he said in a calm but business like tone.= " And I saw that little grape fiasco at the other end of the table. I suspec= t you had something to do with that as well," he stated. She swallowed the small lump that had formed in her throat. "Sir," she started, "I admit that the grape thing was going a bit far, but.." Her word= s trailed off briefly as she thought about how to state what she wanted to say= . Keylor frowned. His counselor was more like a school girl playing with the n= ew knowledge she just learned. Incessantly trying things here or there without= regard to decorum. "But wouldn't be important for me to be able to use this skill without others noticing? I really can't practice that here by myself," she finished her reply. Although she had started the exercise at the briefing m= eeting out of boredom and she just shouldn't have done the grape thing; it did make= her realize that she was moving things now with little to no effort. It was= more natural. Keylor nodded slightly. =E2=80=9CYes, practice is good, but not in the middl= e of a briefing. And if you need someone to help you hone your skills, why not the chief science officer. After all Vulcan=E2=80=99s are the masters of mind co= ntrol. Who else better suited to help you focus and practice in a more appropriate sett= ing, like a lab.=E2=80=9D He responded. Athena's look was grim as she said, "Understood, sir." Her thoughts turned to the original agreement that only The general, the XO and the CMO would kn= ow about this particular ability. {Wasn't it bad enough that she had to go and= have a physical every month per his orders? Now, she supposed to go to the= CSO and possible subject herself to who knew what kind of tests.} She shuddered= slightly at the thought of some of the testing that was done before at the hands of the base scientists. Athena had removed all emotion from her face as she stated her formal apology. "I'm sorry for any disruptions it will not happen again. Unless I= 'm ordered to do so." Keylor nodded. "Thank you, is all I ask," he replied. Athena gave a smile and said, "I need to be on my way. I understand that a new ensign is buying drinks and I don't believe he's been properly pied yet.= " Keylor nodded solemnly. =E2=80=9CVery well. and please give some thought to= working with someone to gain more mental control. This way you can practice in priva= te and get positive feedback," he added. Athena stood and moved toward the door and just before going through she turned and gave the general a pointed look to his response. =/\= End Log =/\= BGen Bretam Captain & Lt. Wellington Counselor
