===== Bridge, USS Chimera ===== There was Shane's turn for the bridge watch again. For some reason ... Shane had the slight feeling that it was ALWAYS his turn for a bridge watch. Of course it was not the truth, there was a standart roster rotation shedule for this post as well ... but the feeling ... that still remainded in Shane's mind. Shane thought back two hours ago when he ate with Rangi in the mess hall a common meal. The mess hall wasnt too full at that time and Rangi and he had a pleasant meal togehter. Since the ship left SB Bragg there was again little time to spend with his beloved and therefore Shane was glad for every half-an-hour spend with her. The ship's Chef V'Lek prooved himself as an excelent cook. Even better was that V'Lek alreay picked up some crew's habits regarding food and Shane didnt even had to order his usual 'light meal' It was <<OOC ... NOW V'Lek ... there's your receipt!>> one Tuna sendwich with mayo and a Telerian blue Bobo sendwich. The Bobo was indeed a telerian fruit of blue color ... somewhat fuzzled with short red 'hairs' on all sides. The Bobo was of an salty taste, remotely resembling the terran olives. Dark bread with butter, cheese and the Bobo fruit was a delicatesy liked by Shane and he ate it 4 times a week. "Commander" the voice of MCpt Harker broke Shane's thoughts about the Bobo sendwich, "we are about to reach the outer limit of the Spinward March in 2 Minutes". Shane noded towards the marine behind the helm console and was about to tap his commbadge when suddenly the door at the Captain's room opened and Keylor came into the bridge and walked to the center of it. There he found Shane dutifully sitting in the ‘chair’ . As Keylor walked up Shane stood up . “Sir. I was about to call you, we are ready to drop out of warp.” He remarked. Keylor nodded, “Very well, proceed.” He said calmly. Shane looked forward to Harker, a slight look of doubt in his face. “Helm, drop out of warp and bring us as close to the marsh as you can with out entering the area.” He commanded. It was still a bit odd for him to give out orders to the bridge crew in the Generals presence, but that was expected of him. “Aye sir, dropping out of warp. “ Harker replied calm and cool. Shane was still far from happy about the marine, but without prooves or even traces that would indicate otherwise, he had to treat the man like everyone else on the ship. “Now at full impulse sir. Setting course for 47 mark 23. there is a recess in the boundary approximately 1 million kilometers . Should give a perfect vantage point for scanning the marsh.” Harker commented. One thing spoke in Harper's favour ... he knew his job. Shane was about to ask him to find a good place for starting long range scanns but the guy did it already without beeing ordered to. Now was the time to go on, but Shane first wanted a 'green light' from the General. Shane looked at Keylor and Keylor nodded. “Precede Marine Captain Harker. Bring us in close, but not too close.” Shane ordered. “Very well commander. " said Bretam to Shane, "Have the science section start their scans of the marsh. I want to know where that ship is and the safest path to get there.” Shane nodded, “Shall I inform Lt McTaggert that he can perform his diagnostics?” he asked. Keylor nodded, “Yes. I promised him he could investigate the errant readings once we dropped out of warp. Tell them to find and resolve the problem at once. I don’t kow how long it will take to find the Gott, but once we do, we will need to get moving. I want to get this mission over with as quickly as possible. But make it clear that impulse power, and sensors must remain online so we can find our target.” He responded. Shane nodded once again, “Aye sir.” Keylor than looked over to LT Foster. “Lieutenant, Make sure Lieutenant Oriana and her department have the resources they need.” Andersen responded back , ”Aye sir.” “Also start preparations on the shuttles we will use for the assault. Make sure they are ready to go at a moments notice.” Keylor added. Andersen nodded and looked back to his console. Keylor looked back to Shane. “You have the bridge commander. Let me know when we find the Gott.” He stated. Shane nodded, “Aye sir.” With little more than a nod, Keylor turned and headed to the turbo lift. As he stopped in front of the lift doors he turned back and looked towards Shane. “Is there a problem sir?” Shane asked. Keylor could not put his finger on it, but for some reason this all seemed familiar. Looking about the bridge he said “No commander. Carry on.” and with that he left the bridge. Shane looked at the turbo lift's door for a second longer and the shrugged slighty. The General looked a bit odd ... somehow perplexed and Shane knew about no reason for such a reaction. But well: {Noone's perfect} he told to himself and returned to THE chair again. The pressed the COMM button on the chair and contacted Engineering. "Bridge to Engineering." +TAPS+ LT. McTaggert here. "Lieutenant" Shane started, "we've just arrived at the edge of the march and droped out of warp. You are now free to perform an level 1 diagnostics to find out where the problem with the efficiency readings are." +TAPS+ Finnaly. I'll start at once. Shane was a bit surprised about the a little unpolite tone of the DCEO, but he knew about the efficiency issue and he shared the worries of the DCEO. However Shane was not happy about the attitude of the DCEO towards crew from other departments and orders in general. But well, it was the General who took this issue to straighten out and there was no use to tell the DCEO the same things the General surely did again. "Lieutenant, please notice that impulse power and sensors have to remain online and unaffected by the diagnostics and once we will find the Gott we need to go on with the mission immediately" Shane said in a friendly but formal tone. As expected, the DCEO protested. +TAPS+ Commander! The General promised me a FULL level 1 diagnostics after the Chimera will be out of warp. Shane shook his head slighty and said firmly: "Lieutenant, impulse power and sensors WILL remain online and once Science will find the Gott we WILL move on. Besides this two facts you are free to do what you think is necessary." After a moment of 'heavy' silence McTaggert replied: +TAPS+ Your way Commander. McTaggert out. Shane rolled his eyes and shrugged slighty. Then he pressed the COMM button once again: "Bridge to Atrometrics" +TAPS+ Oriana here sir. "Lieutenant, we've just reached the outskirt of the Spinward march. I need you to start your scans for the USS Gott and once you will find her, i need to determine the safest possible route to get us to her. In need, coordinate the flight plan with Helm" The logical, short and laconic reply came instantly: +TAPS+ Aye, aye sir. For the third time Shane pressed the COMM button on the CO's chair. "Bridge to Major Walsh" +TAPS+ Walsh here. "Major, we have just reached the outskirt of the march. From now on we are in a possible dangerous area and therefor I want you to arrange double patrols for the duriation of our stay in the march. And please post additional personell to critical areas like Main Engineering and the Bridge. I dont want any surprise here happening." Walsh's voice sounded a tiny little bit annoyed, like thinking that Shane was ordering him things that were 'common talk' in under presnt conditions. Shane could imagine that Walsh indeed already POSTED the the double patrols. +TAPS+ Roger that sir. I'll take care about that. "And Major?" Shane said afterwards, "I am still waiting about your report about the possible use of flame weapons against the X!Chi that Ens. Terek and Corporal Cortez proposed." +TAPS+ Yes, sir, I know. I am ... still testing the option's there. Shane frowned and thought: {I other words, stop buggin' me!}. "Major ... please end your 'testing' BEFORE we will find the Gott. Both the General and me would be glad to know that there is a way how to deal with the X!Chi drones." +TAPS+ Understood sir. Anythign else? "Nothing at the moment Major" ===== End og log ===== Cmdr.
