===== Terek's quaters =====
After quite exhausting double shift followed by a weapon demonstration
in the holodeck, Terek came to his quaters thinking about nothing else
than a long quiet sleep followed by some food after a day of starving.
As he entered the room, the light went on. He just came to the armchair
and dropped into it. After a short while he realized that if he'll keep
sitting he'll fall asleep so he stoo up, took off his uniform and
stepped into the shower. He felt refreshing warmth on his body and
sensed his muscles are unclenching. Suddenly the tirdeness of the last
few days fell on him and he felt like he can't keep his eyes opened for
any second longer. So he turned of the shower, put on his night cloths
and finally laid into the bed. With the dreamcatcher over his head he
felt the sweat darkness of the sleep grabing him and taking him to the
unseen places.
He saw himself standing on the cliff, looking down into the deep, dark,
stormy water. He felt like he has to fall in every moment from now.
Frightened he was trying to step back or turn away, but he couldn;t. He
just had to stare at the wast deepnes of the ocean under him, feeling
the strength of the wind trying to push him down from the cliff. And
suddenly it happened. He was somehow pushed to the back and he couldn;t
hold his balance so he jus was falling and falling and with a unpleasant
shift he found himself sweating on his bed, his hearth bouncing
somewhere in his neck.
"Prophets..." he whimpered quietly as he tried to shake off his dream.
but it seemed that it won't be so easy, so he got up from the bed and
from the slightly glowing replicator he ordered a ginger tea. A thing
his mother used to give him for a good sleep. He took a cup and sat back
into his armchair, looking at the statue on his conference table.
Already when he was child, he was fascinated by mythological creatures
of all possible species, but what he found most curious were creatures
from the Earth. People call it dragons. In the history, there was
several dragon kinds. Also they were some kind and some mean, depending
on culture telling dragon stories. He also found dragon like
mythological creatures in legends of another species. Even Bajoran
seemed to have something like it. Though named differently in different
regions, there were notes about great lizard like animals wondering in
the countryside. He didn;t know if this was true, but he found these
creatures fascinating. So he replicated himself a few pictures, thet
hung up on the walls and also one wooden statue of a Earth chinese
dragon. So as he was sitting in the armchair, slowly drinking a ginger
tea, watching the statue, his eyes began to drop slowly again. So he
swallowed rest of the tea with one gulp and sat more comfortably in the
chair, thinking that he just will sit for a while... but in a minute or
so, he was in a deep sleep again. This time on the chair...
When Terek woke up that morning. he found himself on the armchair, his
body cold as he wasn't covered with a blanket. But he found himself
almost strangely rested as well. But it didn't bothered him at the
moment. He went to perform all morning procedures, then put on his
uniform and took a small breakfast. Then he strode of his room to the
Astrometrics to do some serious job. On the way he couldn;t help himself
thinking of some nice dream that he had at night, but wasn;t able to
recall it.... only thing he remembered was some lizard like creatures in
it....
===== Astrometrics =====
After about five minutes, Terek arrived into the lab. The morning shift
was already on the place, he saw Lt Oriana standing at one of the side
panels, probably checking sensor logs for the Gott. He sat behind one of
the main consoles and began to search as well. {Damn it... in this mess
we will be lucky to find anything at all} he thought when he looked
through the sensor systems and saw all those anomalies. {well this will
require some time...} said to himself and began to program sensors to
detect anomalies properly. It seemed that whole team was working on the
problem as noone was talking... it was almost magical atmosphere. The
wole room concentrated on one problem, trying to find a solution. It
took them almost half of the shift to go throught the sensor sweeps and
try to find out the most safest route into the marsh... but no trace for
Gott so far... {the command will be disappointed...} Terek thought
sarcasticly, but as he was checking the course they found out, he felt
at least a little satisfaction over this little progress... The newly
modified sensors worked great. They were able to detest temporal
anomalies on great distances, thus givin Chimera enough time to change a
course. On the charts the anomalies appeared as som esort of deformed
bubles in different shades of blue, indicating strength of the
distorsion. The safest route led the ship along the inner border of the
marsh for a few light years and then if the situation wouldn't change
strighlty to the center of the marsh.... There the temporeal
disturbances were becoming more often and it seemed to a quite harsh
ride... Terek only hoped that the pilot has a great experience in
avoiding a suddenly arose obstacles, because there was no way of telling
when or where anothe anomaly creates. The only warning they could be
given was a shor flux of tetryon particles only a few seconds before the
anomaly appears. At least he programed computer to permanently scan for
those fluxes and in the case of one to give immediate warning.
So finally he checked the course, saw it was right and now came a
unpleasant part...
+taps+"Astrometrics to bridge..."
+taps+"Bridge here go on..."
answered voice of commander on the other side of the link
+taps+"Sir, we've managed to find course to the marsh. I'm transmiting
it to you now...."
said Terek taping his console and sending those numbers up to the
bridge... but now the quiet fell down and Terek knew wht will come...
+taps+"Ensign. Have you managed to determine the location of the USS
Gott?"
asked commender in cold voice...
+taps+"Eh... no sir. Not yet, but we think that once we get more into
the area, we'll get a more clear view of the marsh...."
+taps+"I'm not concerned about your excuses ensign, we are in time
press. We need to know that location as soon as possible. Keep me
noticed if you'll find 'anything'. Brigde out"
ended Guzman conversation in a tone which could freeze the hell. So
Terek just gulped and better turned back to the console, going through
the logs again to reasure he hasn;t overlooked something...
