====== Bridge, USS Chimera ====== 24 hours passed since the Chimera arrived at the edge of the spinward march and started their search for the missing USS Gott. The search was first done by sensors only. The initial plan was to localise the Gott and find a safe way to get to the Gott's coordinates. Science tried their best to find the Gott, other departments supported the search as good as they could ... but still after 24 hours there was evidence of the missing Nova class ship. It appeared that not even the joint effort of Science, Ops and LtCmdr. Palmer managed to find a trace of the Gott. The only thing that was certain about the ship was its last position when she was discovered by SSF long range sensors. With no better data, Ops and Helm prepared a "safe" route towards the Gott's last known position. To go there could proves itself as a waste of time ... or even worser ... as a dangerous business of little value, but for the present Shane saw no acceptable alternative. To stay where they are and continue to sensor search for the Gott could last a week ... and even so there was no certainity that they will ever find her. Ten minutes ago Shane visited the General in his ready room and talked with him about the current situation. The General was not lucky about Shane's suggestion of action and only reluctantly agreed ... but well, there was NO alternative, was there? Once the command team agreed that the Chimera should try to reach the Gott's last know position inside the Spinward march and continue to search for her from that position, Shane returned to the bridge to make neccesary preparations. Steping inside the bridge Shane walked over to the Command chairs but sat himself in the XO's one and started ordering: "HELM, set the course for the last know position of the USS Gott, use teh flying route Science prepared." MCpt Harker, the Helmsmann fellow noded like already waiting for an order like this: "Aye, aye Commander" Now, Shane turned his head towards the OPS console and said to LT. Foster: "Lieutenant, please inform all departments that we will enter the march in less then 10 minutes." Foster noded and Shane added: "Tell engineering that their diagnostics are suspended for a more suitable time later". Foster gave Shane a look that expressed a slight concern but noded for the second time. "Aye, sir". ===== 10 minutes later ===== Bretam entered the bridge and Shane stood up from his seat. He informend the General immediately: "Sir, we are ready to enter the March at your command". Bretam looked at the main screen and frowned a bit. After a moment he noded towards Shane and said: "Go ahead Commander, take us in" and with that he sat himself in the CO's chair. Shane was a bit surprised that the General wanted him to do the necessary orders ... but well, both of them two ... Bretam and Shane, knew what needed to be done ... and how to do it. From time to time Shane had the slight feeling that Bretam was a bit weary of giving simple orders to the bridge crew ... Shane noded to Bretam and faced the main screen again. He opened his mouth and ordered: "Green alert". The change was only a slight one. Green alert was not a red not even a yellow one. It was just a way how to tell the whole ship that the next hours are NO drill. Shane tapped a button and activated the ship-wide Comm. All crew on all the ship could now hear him ... from Main Engineering, through Sickbay to the smalest Cargo room: "Commander Guzman speaking. In a minute we will enter the Spinward march. Our mission is to find the missing Gott and rescue what is to rescue from her or her crew. The march is a dangerous place and I expect anyone to act with proffesionalism and confidence. Prepare for flight turbulences and possible shakes. Guzman out" All, right ... it was not a speach a sensitive and expereiced Captain would held to his crew prior entering an area like the spinward march ... but Shane was neighter sensitive, nor experienced ... and not even the Captain. "Activate the temporal shielding" he ordered after a moment of hesistation. None was absolutely sure about the effects of the prototype technology on the Chimera and Shane could only hope that SSF was right when forcing the General to accept that technology on the Chimera. Turning now again towards the OPS station he said: "Mr. Harker, take us slowly in ... steady as she goes!" Simultaniously as the MCpt "ayed" the orders, the USS Chimera slowly stared to move and less then a minute she entered the Spinward March. ===== 30 Minutes later ===== Shane looked over at Foster and asked: "Any news from Science?" Foster shook his head: "None Commander. They are using all ship's sensors and are scanning the whole area but still no trace of the Gott." Shane noded and asked again: "What about engineering?" thinking about possible effects the March could have on the ship. Foster shook his head again: "Since the protest of the DCEO about interrupting his diagnostics nothing sir. Temporal shielding is holding and the ship's systems show no traces of malfunctioning" Shane looked over at Bretam who was unusually silent for the last half-an-hour. Maybe he was still not fully convinced that entering the march without knowing the Gott's exact location was a good idea. That Bretam was maybe right prooved a report from the OPS station: "Sir, there is a quantum singularity rift on our starbord appearing. Distance 100 Km. I detect chronoton and neutrinum particles of immense intensity" Shane barked immediately: "Evasive maneuvers Mr. Harker!" Harker did as ordered but it was too late. A bright white light filled the bridge and lasted for a second. After that second the giant gravity strenght of a freshly created rift riped the Chimera into thousand pieces ... killing everyone on board within a moment. NONE survived .... ===== [RELOADED] ====== Shane looked over at Foster and asked: "Any news from Science?" Foster shook his head: "None Commander. They are using all ship's sensors and are scanning the whole area but still no trace of the Gott." Everyone on board chould feel the sharp curve the Chimera under the skilled hands of MCpt Harker did and thus avoided the deadly singularity rift. The gravitation wave shook the Chimera violently and the lights on the bridge flickered for a second ... It took Shane a whole moment to concentrate again. He barked questions like a rapid fire turpedo launcher: "Mr. Foster status! Mr. Harker get us away from that thing as soon as possible!" Shane felt an another sharp curve the ship did to escape the effects of teh rift. Foster ... a bit pale in the face reportred: "Damage reports coming in ... only little damage on decks 5, 6 and 7. No casualities reportred, temporal shielding down to 70% but holding". Shane sighed in relief and turned to Bretam who looked to be the same relieved as Shane was. "That was close sir, wasnt it?" he asked. Bretam stood up from his chair and looked at the mainscreen before replying: "Too close in my opinion Commander ..." Shane noded having a slight feeling that the whole accident could end FAR MORE a worser way then it did. He didnt know how RIGHT he was. ===== End of log ===== <<OOC ....
