Athena sat in a quiet corner in the mess hall drinking a soothing cup of tea.
She looked into the cup that was still mostly full as if contemplating some
puzzle. She thought back to the few minutes ago when she had seen LtCmdr.
Palmer in the corridor. She had asked the other woman to join her and although
Samantha's expression gave nothing away; Athena sensed a feeling of discomfort.
Athena had been about to add the temptation of chocolate along with the cup
of tea when the LtCmdr. had been called to astrometrics. Athena had smiled at
the other woman and made an offer for another time. Athena had watched as
Samantha walked away, but what was bothering was the brief look of relief that
seemed to pass over the other woman's face that was bothering the counselor.
Athena continued to contemplate the situation as if the light brownish brew
held the answers. {It just a stressful time. It was my imagination.} She
thought of a couple of excuses neither of which felt right but both of which were
possible. Athena could feel the mood of the ship (the crew) shift a bit.
With her sensing that things were more tense and a dull ache still plaguing her
head Athena gave up on her tea and decided to try something else. She got up
and walked towards the door. She had really hoped that a full nights sleep
would make the headache go away, but the dull soft rhythm stayed right where it
was.

As the mess hall doors slid close Athena listened to the message Shane sent
throughout the ship and felt another wave of tension. {Maybe a nap would help}
Athena thought {and a good place for me to be at the moment.} Athena headed
toward the lift but was diverted when she saw one of the medical lab
technicians. The girl seemed upset and Athena stopped to comfort her. The young woman
seemed to be upset by the number of injuries that had come through the
sickbay plus one of the doctor's had been short with her earlier; at least that's
what Athena could glean from what the woman was saying. Athena believed that
these incidents did bother the other woman but because she seemed to have a
compassionate soul and she held her emotions in check at the time of the
incidents.
Although it seemed that no time had passed Athena figured that her head had
beat off enough seconds to be about a half hour. She was glad that the
technician seemed to be better. {She just needed someone to vent to.} Athena
continued on her way to the lift and got in. She requested the desired deck and
smiled at the Marine who was already there. He only gave a small almost
unnoticeable nod. The lift began to move and then Athena felt a large dip and her
stomach felt a bit queasy. Her eyes went to the marines as he asked, "Are you
feeling OK, Counselor?"

Athena took a cleansing breath as the lift stopped and then the lights
flickered. "That's strange I feel as though I asked you that before recently," the
marine said as the lights stabilized.
{I was just thinking that} Athena thought and reached up to rub her temples.
"Yes, I'm Fine just a bit of a headache," she replied and gave a small smile.
Fortunately the lift doors slid open onto Athena's floor and she was
grateful to get out and walk to her quarters.

Athena walked straight to her bed and sat on the edge. She pulled off her
shoes and socks and laid down on the bed. {I hope this headache starts to get
better soon.} She closed her eyes and tried to concentrate on getting her
muscles to relax so she could sleep. However, all to soon she realized the
commands she was giving her body to relax matched the increased rhythm of the
tiffany in her head; which was anything but relaxing.
