It was ugly, that was sure. And the jaws of the creature where angled in such a way as to cut a man clean in half if held between the mandibles correctly. The meaning of the story thus far seemed blindingly - no pun intended - obvious. Basically, fire your arse off, and don't let it get close. Otherwise, he mused, your not likely to do much harm with a standard issue knife.
Turning to leave the holodeck, he passed through the arch and entered the corridor beyond. Unclipping the front buckles of his flak jacket, Jason lowered the heavy phaser rifle and called over the comm-link. "Ra'nar, report to my quarters sharp. Scott out."
When Ra’nar got the message he was in his quarters after getting back from sickbay, ready to down another glass of single malt. Although an inconvenience, Ra’nar put down the bottle and put his Gray duty jacket back on which had been lying nicely on the floor. Once he had adjusted his green collar, he set off in search of the Lieutenant.
Ra’nar had met Lieutenant Scott before but had never visited his quarters, so it took a little time before Ra’nar was able to locate them. But he soon did and when he did, Ra’nar stood outside the door of the quarters checking he was in correct uniform one last time before buzzing in.
Arriving back at his quarters only moments before, Jason looked up as the enunciator announced Ra'na's arrival. Rolling up the sleeves of his green under-shirt, he called out for the man to enter.
With that Ra’nar entered and stood to attention before the Lieutenant, wondering what this little visit was about.
Not looking at the man as he stood firmly before him, Scott continued to put away his jacket and field gear. "Heard you threw some punches and got dragged away. Not good." He stated plainly before looking up to Ra'nar. "Tell me your version."
“Not much to tell sir,” said Ra’nar with eyes forward and back strait. “I was insulted by someone, I then said that they should apologise, he refused. A fight then broke out and a more calm and controlled me came out on top.” Everything Ra’nar said was true, but he did leave out the bit were he struck first.
"Who started the fight?" Jason queried, turning away from the man and approaching the replicator. "Coffee, white." He called, taking the drink that appeared and turning back to Ra'nar, "Well?"
{Damn it!} thought Ra’nar, but without moving a muscle. “I did sir, but he was asking for it and he pulled a Phaser on me, he had me pinned down.” Ra’nar was not sure if this was the right direction to take the conversation, but he did not want to be unduly punished because of some idiot who wasted his team on the holodeck with friendly fire.
Crossing his arms, Jason stood before the man and took a gulp of the coffee. Ra'nar was still at attention, and he found no reason to put the man at ease. "How did he insult you?" Jason asked, taking another drink from the cup.
“He insulted my family. Said they were lackeys for the Jem’hadar.” As Ra’nar said this he realised how stupid he had been. “I will accept any punishment you feel is necessary sir. I really should have rose above the comments.”
To that, Jason only raised an eyebrow above a tinted lense. "Aye." He commented, turning from the man and approaching the replicator once more. Filling another cup with coffee, he called out over his shoulder. "I don't care for apologies, so if you want to do that, that's up to you. For making an arse of ODA though, i want to you help clean the mess hall for a week. We clean up our own mess, got it?"

Re-approaching the man, Jason watched him nod regrettably. "And don't do it during duty, do it on your own time. Dismissed!" Finally saluting to Ra'nar, he watched him do the same, turn aptly and leave the room. Watching the man leave, Jason lifted the glasses from his nose and take a drink from the cup, he needed a rest.

2Lt.
