= Shuttle 2==
Keylor held on to the controls tight as the tidal forces of the rather
large anomalies that surrounded them shook the ship about. Though he was
an accomplished pilot. Even this was more than he had encountered
before. {I should have stayed on the bridge.} he though to himself as
Scott read off the sensor readings to him.
"Sir I just received an update on anomalies from the Chimera. There is
one ahead and to the left that is expanding." Jason called out. Keylor
nodded. "So that is why Lieutenant Foster is making a turn." He said as
if the wonders of the universe were beginning to unravel to him. Give me
a new course lieutenant." He commanded back.
Keylor started a slow right turn as Jason plotted a new course. "New
heading is 75 mark 15." Jason called back. Keylor quickly tapped in the
new heading and the ship turned among the buffeting and bumping. {I
swear the marsh is throwing everything it has at us. It must not want us
to reach the Gott.} he thought.
As the shuttle turned, they were now heading towards the stern of the
Gott. The bumping and jarring became worse." Lieutenant? Any chance we
can find a path that will not shake the shuttle apart?" he asked in a
vibrating tone.
"No sir. This was the only path he computer could plot with the lease
amount of turbulence." He said back in a similar way. Keylor just sighed
and contained to steer the shuttle. {I hope the prophets are watching
over us. Because if they are not, we will surely shake apart.} he though
with a frown.
As his eyes vibrated back and forth, he notices a spark from Fosters
shuttle. "That cant be good." He said softly. Jason then chimed in. Sir
they had moved directly in to our path! If we don't change course we
will collide in 1500 meters." He chirped.
With a heavy sigh Keylor looked at his consol. "And the computer says?"
he asked with a bit of annoyance in his shaky voice. A small bit of
silence came over the cockpit when Scott finally responded. "Well sire
no path is the best. The computer is plotting a course back to our
original position, then down and away form the Gott. It will ad 10
minutes on to our travel time."
"Ten minutes!" he said in a raised voice. "If we are shaken any more we
might not make it there." He said angrily. After a second of thought he
asked back. "What is the shortest distance in the direction of the Gott,
regardless of the turbulence that will get us there quickly and out of
the heave turbulence?" he asked annoyed. After a few taps Jason replied.
" Bering 87, mark 57. 50,000 meters It will take us right behind the
Gott. Sensor readings from the Chimera indicate the turbulence around
the Gott is minimal.
Before Keylor could respond an alarm sounded. "What now?" he asked.
Jason quickly responded. "Structerial integrity down to 85 percent."
Keylor sighed. "Ok we are taking the short cut." He said. With out a
second thought he laid in the new course. "Get as much as you can out of
the impulse engines. This is not going to be pretty and is probably
going to shake us out of our skins, lets get it over with." He said to
Jason. "Yes sir." He replied and quickly followed with "Impulse engines
at 107 percent."
As the shuttle quickly started to close in on the aft sections of the
Gott, Keylor could barely see. If it was nto an up and down shaking, he
was being bumped left and right . "OOOOOOO..KKKKKK.. tttthis mighttt
nottt have been a good ideaaaaaaa." He said . Meter by meter the shuttle
was bounced around, and if not for the shuttle computer, they ould
surely have been bounced in to the next galaxy.
"Allll..mooost theeerree ssssssirrrrr." Jason said. "500
mmmmeeeettteerrrrs." Just then another alarm sounded. "Whaaaaaat
NOWWWWWWW?" Keylor shouted above the rattling and vibration in the
shuttle. "IMMMMMMpluse FFFFFFFFAILINGGGGGGG!"
{Great! Just what we needed.} Keylor thought. As if willing the shuttle
to get to the got, Keylro pressed on the controls of the ship and
grimaced.
"200 MMMEEETTTTEEERRSSS, IMMMPULSSSE at 30 PERRRRCENT!" Jason called
out.
"Jussssssssst a litttttllllle mooooooore." Keylro mutterd. And within a
few seconds the tossed and tumbled shuttle exited the turblence and
right betweent the nacelles of the Gott. "Report lieutenant." He
commande Jason.
"Sir Impuls is at 10 percent, Structerial integrity is at 50 percent.
And the starboard Nacelle has a plasma leak. And power is dropping
fast. If we cont land soon and power down we will be either adrift or
explode." Jason replied.
Keylor frowned. "Well which is is? Will we explode or go adrift?" he
asked back. Looking over at Jason he saw only a shrug. "Ok so what are
our options? Can we make it to the docking port?" Jason tapped on a
console and then responded. "Unlikely sir. Though the Auxiliary shuttle
bay is directly ahead. May be we should shoot for that. It is on deck
three."
Keylor frowned {Ok what else can go wrong.} Tapping on the console,
Keylor could see the illumination fade in and out. "OK the Auxiliary
shuttle bay it is." As the shuttle slowly made its way to the auxiliary
shuttle deck he turned to Jason. "Send the command codes to open the
shuttle bay." "Aye sir." Jason responded.
